And do you worry of it getting thieved?

Just wondering what you all do to secure your bike. When I was at home with the parents, a disc lock, chained to a fence post and Oxford cover was all I had. Although it was in a rural area.

Now though I think its more secure. I wouldn't have it parked off street, its in a private garage, its watched by the neighbours CCTV for their vans (they run a business). Its got a big heavy duty Oxford chain round the frame, subframe and rear wheel, disc lock, smaller Oxford chain loped through 2 old steels wheels for a Fiesta and through my front wheel, CAT1 alarm and immobiliser and thats about it. Takes me a while to get in and out but worth it I think.

I would hate for it to get stole so what does everyone else use? I couldn't sleep at night if it was parked off the street.

I use a cheap £2.99 disc lock any & everywhere, on EVERY stop, and also a £10 chain and £5 padlock, chain is as good as any "decent" oxford lock, and at home lock it to the trailer, we also have CCTV but if it was nicked, I'd know who to give a belting and where to find them. Thumbs Up

I've an imobilised car with steering lock and alarm parked in front of mine in the garage, plus the normal chains, disklocks, alarms etc.

My best deterent though is the dog, anyone (including animals) whatever time of the day comes up the drive, he lets us know.

Big Chain, ground anchor, U lock, Alarm, locked in garage, 2 cars parked in front and 220kg dry weight so I doubt its going anywhere.

Not scared of it being stolen, its insured if it does anyway.

Ive got both my bikes in an 8x6 shed in my garden thats about 10 ft from the house. Both bikes have disc locks on them and the shed doors are locked and thats it. My car also blocks the only route out of the garden and i also have two sbt's with good ears, so i sleep reasonably well at night.
And what with my nextdoor neigbours 125 sat there totally unlocked, i know where i'd go first. Laughing

Just the stearing lock and cover at the mo with the alarm!

Its parked in the back and to get it out takes about 5minutes.

Also the gate is warped and makes a racket when you open it and the path is narrow so if you tried to nick it, I would hear before you got out the gate!

i have a garage and normally 2 cars blocking the door at work i have a chain and a nosy boss.

if anyone attempted to steal my bike i probably wouldn't hear them as when my shed was broke into i slept right threw it even though they smashed a wire glass window and a padlock off my gate (my rooms even at the back of the house) so i guess im a heavy sleeper .

Theres 2 bikes outside the house with a big lock on. But both bikes are worth little money (Although worth alot to me)

Then theres 4 bikes in the garage. All ground anchored. Then the garage is bolted shut, alarm put on (Bikes and garage). Then the cars rolled down to the door.

Then we have a ferocious guard cat on patrol.

All in all pretty safe. Shame it took 2 break in's before dad got his act together.

Cheers,
Shaun.

heavy chain and padlock round back wheel and frame, disc lock on the front.

I also refuse to clean the thing so that makes it less attractive to thieves.

Parked it next to the local neighbourhood watch curtain twitcher as well.

I put the steering lock on mine in the garage, with 3 cars infront and have a chunky chain but it isnt long enough to chain it to anything or another bike when out so Im considering getting a disc lock. Are disc locks worth getting? Id like something for peace of mind. I would like an immobiliser.

yep I worry a lot about it getting thieved, as I live in a crap part of manchester...
bike is locked up in the backyard, which is only accesable through the house or through the alleyway which has huge locked gates at the beginning of the street and which only the residents that have applied for have keys for and most residents are students like myself and I very much doubt anyone has a key except me and the old lady living next door.. then the backyard gate is locked with a padlock, then the bike is chained to my old cg (which i still need to sell) + it has a big disk lock worth £50, but I managed to get it for £15 as it was a discontinued product and I bought the last one in the shop, woohoop... phew... Im tired ot typing this... but I think my bike is safe.

That depends whether you like pools or not I guess, I mean it's a good thing if you're part of the swimming pool liberation front or something but I guess it's not so good if you're one of those people who likes to detoxify in the sparkling warm water or be gently rocked by the artificial waves, or even if you're a concentrated chlorine salesman or maybe a poolhouse pump vendor or something.
No doubt the SPLF will be rejoicing at this one.

Bastards.

Datatool Veto Evo.

That is all. Laughing I feel a bit guilty after these huge lists, but then both the places I store my bike overnight are pretty secure, low-crime areas.

Mine's in a locked garage and is secured with a large cable running through the door, the bike and the ground anchor and a datatool alarm. You can't open the outer door without taking the cable off the inside and you can't get to the garage from the other side unless you come through the house or garden. there's a separate chain also between the bike and the anchor with a soddin' big padlock.

I never leave the bike out on the road and if I pop to the shops then it's double locked with cable and chain to the sturdiest piece of street furniture around.

K.

I worry about it constantly. I lock it and keep it in a garage after dark to make it inconvienient for thieves but...

...if a real thief wants my bike there isnt as lot I can do to stop him apart from sleeping on top of it and keeping it with me every waking moment.
