well i passed my test today so i want to insure my new bike, ive been insured on my 125 for 11 months so want to kinda keep the policy so i get my 1 years no claims. i ask about putting my new bike on the same policy so i can still ride both. im not allowed to do that so i ask if i can just change it straight over and for the month they want £340 extra to insure it alone. it just seems to ridiculous to me and now i just dont know what to do, i want to ride my new bike but its just shocking what they want from me so i can ride it.

sorry bout the rant

if you have comprehensive insurance then you might be able to ride the new bike but the cover would be limited to TPO! Just check the policy wording Thumbs Up

what bike is it ?
How old are you ?
Whats your area like ?

Would it not be worth keeping the policy you have and collecting your no claims and taking out a multibike policy if you want to ride both.

For better quotes ring all the 0800 numbers in the yellow pages, can get you a great deal. I got my best one off the bike trader website despite phoning round. Dont just accept a quote as someone will beat it. Always ask if they can do better than your best quote.

That's a lot of money, just wait the month on your 125 it's probably your best bet.

Then if they offer you another comedy quote take you and your 1 years NCB else where. Thumbs Up

To ride other bikes you need to insure a bike over 398 cc and the bike you are riding has to be insured aswell, even though your policy would cover any claims.

Good idea but it wont work.

How much is the new bike insurance a year.
What i did on mine was to start a new policy and just let the old one run the last month. They wanted £30 admin charge to change the bikes. Would not have been so bad but new bike was £30 a year less....
Had some hassel of them as they wanted proof of no claim, so i just phoned them and gave them the other ins co's details and asked them to get them......

ive only had a check from bennets and its about £700 a year full comp which is why the £340 extra seems rediculous for when its only going to be tpft aswell

Hang on the 1 month is the best bet. I know how much you will want to ride it but dont go out without the insurance.

You will enjoy it more once you can get out on it
