spark plugs for nsr 125

i got a second hand 2003 nsr about a week ago although last saturday it wouldnt start me and my dad looked at it and we changed the spark plug, and it now runs fine but i keep looking on this forum and a lot of people say its better to have a iridium soark plug. currently i have a new basic one and it runs a lot better than it did when i got it, although i just orderd an iridium one against all the advice of the guy at the shop. he said i wont notice a difference and a sparks the same whether its produced by an iridium plug or a basic one i get the plug tomorrow should i notice any difference?

The guy at the shop is right. You won't notice any difference.

You wont notice a performance difference *awaits the barrage of "but Alain says the standard ones are crap" comments* The iridium ones tend to last longer, but as long as the gap is set right, you can't get a more powerful spark out of them. Waste of money if you ask me, especially on a 2 stroke 125.

I really don't think you'll notice anything, perhaps if you had it tuned up completely for racing, kind of to the point that you could have bought a bigger bike, you may notice something.

Still thats a really nice nsr you got there, looking much better than mine is right now

in our world you have people who konw and people who do not know . i am, all the time surprised by the comment of unknowing people .............
it's proved that irridium plug have a better repartition of the spark , so a better burning of the mixture and consequently .........
time's life is at least 7500 miles without touching anything because these plugs do not need space adjustments
i've done several test of petrol consuming and the result is 3/4 L petrol saved and it's easy with the petrol price to calculate how much you save on each full tank

I'd love to see the results of these scientifically proven impartial tests.

I'm also wondering why every car/bike manufacturer doesn't use these economy increasing iridium plugs as OE equipment.

if i told you i am 64 and i am using my 3rd NSR since 1993 , i was a electro-mechnician specialist on engine tunnig . i own my first 2 strokes in 1959 and it was a moped then had a lot of those 2 strokes engine , will you trust me know ?

I might well give a new spark plug a go, first I gotta repair my fairings, then mot, tax, insurance, new front tyre.

after all that I'll buy a new irridium and new normal spark plug and I'll make my own mind up

Iridium plugs last longer and are a touch more efficient.

The main advantage for two strokes I'd say is that they resist carbon fouling far better.

Probably only worth fitting an iridium plug if your bike is de-restricted (correct me if i am wrong (politely fuzz!) But they are apparently designed to last longer, which i suppose is good for the higher RPM's your bike will produce when running at full de-restricted power. You might burn out a standard plug quicker than you would on a restricted bike.
I gotta say though, i am using an iridium plug, and when i changed over, my bike did not seem to cough and splutter quite as much from a cold start. And the idle seems to stay at 1400 rpm, where it is meant to. Maybe some of the critics should try an iridium plug, instead of arguing the toss, and throwing insults around. After all, £10 lost is better than upsetting people who you may need advice from in future.
Lets keep it peaceful, and take a chill pill.

well most people say the only difference you will see if you fit an iridium plug is because the other plug was carboned up but im gonna go from a new standard plug to a new iridium when i get round to changing it, when i have a spare 5 minutes which doesnt happen very often at the moment, goddam exams

but i will change it tomorrow and we will see
