For some reason my bath has an extremely large plughole, which we have lost the plug for. This wouldn't be a problem except our shower has just packed up, so we're having to have bucketbaths at the moment. I've checked B&Q but I can't find a plug the right size - they're all too small - where can we get one and what makes a good substitute for the meantime?

An old innertube (pushbike should do) then cut out to make an appropriate sized circle should do the job. You might need to push down on it a bit to get it to seal while the water first comes up over it.

A squash ball? , or just a sheet of rubber, or if you really want to rough it cut some hair off and bung it in the hole,

this ginger guy I lived with ages ago ALWAYS used to clog up the bathroom plug hole with his ginger erm 'hair'

Squash ball - every travelers' best friend Smile

When I went out to Russia, my language tutor advised me to take a squash ball because it would double up as a plug for sinks and baths whatever the size. Russians, it would appear, don't keep plugs as standard - so I found myself using the squash ball almost every day!

A screwed up lump of damp paper towel shoved into the plughole also works.
