Does anyone manufacture? / Can anyone recommend a Sat Nav system which can be used in a car and on a bike?

Also can you plot a route on a PC then download it into a Sat Nav?

Thanks
Ian

Surely most of them can be used on either? Or are you talking about specifically being waterproof or whatever?

I've used my Streetpilot III on the bike and in the car.

I use mine in the car and on the bike, it's the reason I bought this particular model, so I could do both.

Garmin Quest unit is what I have. And yes, you can plot a route on the PC and upload it to the Sat Nav unit.

yeah i want it fully waterproof, the father in law has a cheap one from aldi but the bike bracket looks very feeble, not sure that it would stand up to much over about 30 and it isn't waterproof. it comes with a very loose fitting clear plastic cover which would blow off as soon as you pulled away!

The newest Tomtom Rider is fully waterproof, and the car mount includes a speaker, so it does car duty pretty well. Even links up with your phone. I've got the old Rider, and aside from a few issues with the mount I've been very pleased with it.

Same here use it on the bike in tha car and in the truck, ACE piece of kit and fully waterproof.

The battery life on most satnavs is maybe 3-5 hours but the Garmin quest has a 21 hour life between charges, so you dont need to have a 12 volt plug fitted on your bike Thumbs Up

The new tomtom rider will work on both car and the bike, tbh i use my phone with a bluetooth gps receiver. Depends on how many miles you are going to cover and how much you depend on satnav.

I got the old ttrider. I use it dailey in the car hooked up to the phone with no problems. Works excellent on the bike although i dont hook it up to the phone when on 2 wheels.
Also able to plot routes before i leave so i get to go on whatever roads i choose.

Cheers
