Hi All,

I've been riding for a year on a lovely, forgiving and all together a little bit boring Honda CBF500.

I would like to upgrade to a new sports bike with more power, faster acceleration and a bit of weak at the knees'ness when i look at it

but the one thing drawing me back is the insurance, my friend has offered me his 06 CBR1000 for £6k and he's only done 300 miles on the clock! a stonker of a deal but the insurance will kill me at over £350 a month (with no convicitons, imobilised, in a garage in a nice part of the uk)!

so i ask, what is the fastest (not neccessarily in top speed but in panty wetting acceleration) bike with the cheapest insurance? your thoughts?

cheers

ru Mr. Green

Look for a 98 r1.

They don't need insurance as when they hit 88mph they just travel through any thing with out doing damage thanks to the flux capacitor, its also capable of time travel.

You will find that a 400 sportsbike is fast enough, & the insurance will be much better.
Insurance is weird tho, i can get insured on a 2007 R1 at 20 years old for £800 yet a 600 sport comes up more expensive.

Don't bother with a 1000cc mate, a 400 would feel fast compared to your 500 & a 600 would feel stupidly fast.
Save loads aswell.

SV650 (pointy) grp 10 and said to be good to 140mph , its not really a sports bike though its a commuter pretending to be one.

that said me old NTV can hit 133mph , kinda windy though grp 10.

Who else have you tried, you will need to try a few to find the best online quote then ring them and play them against each other to get the best deals. Thumbs Up

First off, make some calls around for insurance, should be able to find it a lot lower.
Personally I'd go for a cheaper bike that you can get TPO on.

Early R1 or if you can stretch to it, the K1 GSXR1000 is supposed to have pretty much the most willing midrange of any bike.

If you want really cheap and fast in a straight line, try a GSXR1100, ZZR1100 or even early ZX10.
These won't accelerate any faster than a 600, but will accelerate at the same rate for longer (actually they may be a little faster due to being heavier).

Still like the ZZR-600 in the whole "Bang for bucks" thing...

97BHP, 155 mph and £200 a year to insure (TPF+T).

Smile

The fastest bike with the cheapest insurance is probs the Hayabusa. Group 14. 190 mph early models.
