This may just be a learning curb for me but I thought Id ask the question!

When I did my CBT on a Yamaha I didnt have any problems changing gear, up or down. It seemed very easy.

On my CBR I've had moments when I've felt I only needed to be gentle with my gear lever but am also having times when the gears seem almost stuck and I've had to put a lot of force in to change up or down. Is it just me or is there a problem / something I can do? A lot of the time I change up fine, its just ocasionally it seems jammed.

Is this riding along changing up? or at traffic lights etc finding nuetral/first?

If its at lights try letting the clutch out abit if its in gear then pulling it back in once you've moved a bit.

It may be your clutch but then i thought you would experience the bike moving forward with the clutch fully pulled in which you havent soo hmmm

It has happend while changing up riding along but also had problems changing down at a stop. Once I couldnt change up at all, it just jammed and so I slowed, changed down and changed back up which worked but really didnt like having to do that.

I pulled up somewhere with a mate and couldnt get into neutral and she said to push up really hard. I put a lot of force in and it went but seemed really odd as other times it was a very gentle action. It seemed to require way too much force.

Thanks for the input, I hadnt actually thought of it being a possible clutch problem rather than directly the lever. Im going out for a ride tomorrow so I'll try to monitor it.

If you do that, it'll either fly straight up into second or not move at all.

Does it do it more when hot? Or does it do it straight from cold?

Have had a similar problem on my CBR125 when stopped so I let the clutch slip a bit before trying to chang gear and it worked fine. It is much easier to change to 1st while moving. Can't say I have had a problem at all while at speed.

Hope this helps.??

I would say it does it more during a ride rather than straight away from cold. Havent actually noticed it happening right away.

Thanks for the help. Thumbs Up

check your clutch adjustment to rule that out, it may help, although i would expect it to do it all the time if it was the clutch.

Thats what I thought too, but a little adjustment may help smooth out the problem maybe? I'll let you know.

That's a clunky Honda box for you Confused

How many miles it done? Maybe time for an oil change?
