After discovering that the grip on the top of my boots is pretty much none existant now, can anyone recommend a good quality pair of boots.

I could possibly have a maximum of around £100- £120;
Preferably black;
Not too bothered if they squeek much.
As I wear my boots all the time at college I would prefer them to be comfortable as well.

If no-one can really recommend a pair, does anyone know if any shops are doing deals on them at moment.

Cheers, Mike Smile

Was just looking at them, really do look nice. The price is kinda putting me off though. As, I don't want to look a prat having really nice stuff, then getting on my 125. (If that makes any sence)

If you don't like the price of the Vertigo, try the Vertebrae, they're wicked and I picked mine up for £90.

www.altberg.co.uk

Proper boots. Utterly waterproof and good enough to hike in.

(Ignore the prices btw... My Clubman classics were £119 ordered from that site, not £159.)

You probably won't... They're handmade to order and you can generally only get them from the manufacturers themselves. It normally takes a few weeks for them to arrive as well.

Well worth the wait though. Real 'four seasons' boots made to a really high standard.

I'm on my second pair, the first did nearly five years of all year round riding and all the walking inbetween, were only cleaned properly twice, and are still waterproof. The only reason I replaced them was that they looked a little scruffy where I'd crashed in them, plus I had a bit of spare money at the time and fancied treating myself. Smile

I normally wear caterpiller bike boots which cost me just £10 in a sale a few years ago, warm, comfortable, strong, waterproof and black. Never seen them for sale anywhere else.

I brought some Alpinestars last year when I was trying to be cool but ended up chucking them after a few months, pile of crap.

Magnum elite are superb for £70 - £100 or if your cheap like me you can get Tracpac patrol boots for about £30. I brought my tracpacs about 6 months ago, once again in a sale, for £15 and they have been the most comfortable boots I've ever owned, so far.

Those tracpac boots looks very nice, think they could be just the thing im after. Tbh, the SIDI boots do look the nicest I've seen from the listed in this thread. But im not totally sure if they'll last me long enough with the amount of walking I do.

I guess it down to the level of gayness your aiming for Laughing I personally don't think it matters too much with just boots, its the whole one piece that sort of pushes it too far.

Anyway Mike is planning on wearing them all day so he might have a problem staying co-ordinated Wink

Brand new British army assault boots are £50 a pair. British army pro-boots (same thing but with goretex lining) are £100 a pair.

iooi, what I find interesting is how fast you found them, can I assume that you are already a proud owner?

Or is it just something you have a... ermmm.... 'interest' in?

Why would anyone spend the time designing and manufacturing something like that, its just plain wrong. Sick

Another shout for Sidi Vertigo's!

Sidi's are great boots IMO. I had the Sidi Rain boots before and they saved my feet for 2 1/2 years and 3 crashes! Embarassed

Only thing that let them down was the lack of toe sliders hence I got Vertigo's this time round. Thumbs Up
