PostPosted: 20:37 - 22 May 2007    Post subject: Just heard that my mate got killed Reply with quote

I had an email from my mates dad tonight saying that he was killed on his bike on Saturday.
Nick was 33 and leaves a wife and kids behind. He was young but loved pre-war bikes and rode his Ariel as hard as anyone I know. He was larger than life both physically (6 foot four) and in personality. He was like a young Falstaff and could quaff large amounts of ale and keep every woman in a bar in hope that she would bed him, his stories were outrageous. Last time we got pissed together he told us how he burst his scrotum in a smash and cradled his nuts in his hands until the helicopter arrived.
I am going to miss him, we liked the same things. Bikes, beer, chicks and the worst possible mountain roads to ride on tell him that there were potholes, mud and land-slips and his eyes lit up. He once got me out of my tent with a raging hangover to rebuild his forks for a run and I felt privileged to show him how to do the job and we ate breakfast with oily hands together.
I am going to miss him, he died doing what he loved but he has left all of us who loved him and he loved behind. It is a selfish way of life and no death is glorious. At the moment I feel horrible, there is a big bit of my life missing the gang of us that used to meet up five or six times a year and raise hell well not be the same again.
Please do not posts a load of RIPs, Nick was worth more than that,
he did not live his life in peace, he took what he wanted with both hands and laughed his head off at our stupidity when we got into trouble. I am not even sure why I have posted this here but I wanted to get it off my chest,
Ride safe children.

Feel for you mate.

A friend of mine died just before Christmas in a car smash - didn't see him very often, but still leaves a big gap...

Fucking hell thats a bit harsh, sorry to hear about that, i would be gutted to lose a mate to anything, let alone doing something we ALL enjoy, and as for his family, i just hope the grieving process goes as well as it can for them.

Sorry to hear that.... thats just to many people of late who are meeting with tragic ends

Saw this earlier today and wondered if it was someone from BCF or someone that was known to BCF members https://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/north_east/6679281.stm

Sounded like a right gentleman. Times like these are hard, obviously you don't need me to tell you. It may only be a forum but it does help to get it out. He passed away doing something he loves, sorry mate.

Rest In Peace.

I had an email from a mate last night suggesting we hire out some bunk houses in Snowdonia and have a small invite only rally for the hardest riders in the club. I thought it a great idea if a little random.
Today I hear about Nick's death.
I first met him in Betsy-Coed (sp) in Snowdonia and rode the hills with him there, it was in Snowdonia he almost lost his bollocks.
Suddenly the rally does not seem so random. It will be invitation only for those of us that rode with him.

Sounds like a top guy who will be sorely missed.

Friends like that don't come along often, glad you had the good times & glad he lived his life to the full.

It's scary how often you hear about accidents these days. Or maybe it's because I never payed attention until I got a bike.
Anyway i'm really sorry to hear about your friend, there's not much else I can say.
But as alot of people say, remember the good times etc and celebrate his life. He lived it and from what you have said loved it. Karma

He probably did more in his life for others than most people wouldn't even dream of doing. I shall raise a glass in his honour.

The Rally idea for a few close friends is just the job to remember him properly. Thumbs Up

You asked for no RIP's, so I'll respect that.

I'll just raise my glass instead.

Cheers,

Nick is from our family. My dad told me Sunday what happened. He was the perfect bloke and I’ve always looked up to him. Huge, funny with a great wife and kids.

Feel soo sorry for the rest of the closer family. They’ve had more than their fair share of bad luck.

Thumbs Down
