One of my m8's lived down there for a year. I went a couple of times and it was usually a good laugh. The Town/city (whatever it is) itself is quite small and there are loads of bars in a reasonably compact area so it's easy to have a good night.

Also see if you can try out Swindons famous magic roundabout! (If it's still there) That thing is a head F**k of the highest order:

You beat me to it! I got off the bike and pushed it over the pedestrian crossings when I hit that thing.

LOL! I was in the car when I drove it... I ended up just driving over as much paint as I could and aimed for my exit! Totally bonkers bit of over engineering...

I live about 15 miles east of swindon, don't tend to go there often but their road systems are crazy, roundabouts are everywhere, and they are very commonly in groups of 5 such as the magic roundabout.

Oh and if you are out and about be careful theres normally a lot of police cars around. Might want to check out the george white's there, its quite cool.

I live there.

Yeh the magic roundabout is still there, really isn't very complicated atall once you've gone round it once or twice! Thumbs Up

It's ok for bars and clubs but not great. As has already been mentioned there are a lot of them but many are full of scallies! Try to stick to the top of town if you're older, but if you're younger then the bottom of town would probably suit you more..

Let me know when ya there, maybe pop out on a ride or something Thumbs Up

Yup I walked it, complete chicken out but I had absolutely no idea what I was supposed to do. If I was in a wagon I would have pulled a U turn and got the hell away from the thing. It has no logical rules, you go just where you wish and in any direction and route you wish.
I have a couple of mates in Swindon and when i asked them how they get around it they say that although they understand how it works they realise that most through traffic does not so they do a couple of mile detour to avoid having to use it and being cut down by some twonk that panics by the free choice given by the nob that designed it.

You may find that the girls in Swindon are not like those in your family.

It is actually a great piece of engineering once you've got used to it. But like you said many find it intimmidating and for that reason it's best to not to hit it in the busy periods! Rolling Eyes

And yes, Swindon is pretty much full of dirtbags so you shouldn't have much problem pulling (or getting an STI) Neutral

Yep that'd be me, live in north swindon.

If you're talking night life yeah the bottom will probably be more for you, on a friday/saturday its quite busy down there.
George whites is a nice showroom and worth a visit.
Magic roundabout isn't that bad (but then people from swindon are the king of roundabouts Laughing ) people do tend not to like it if they're not from here.
There are some cracking roads around swindon(not many in) some nice routes for twisties.

If you want you might be able to tag along for some wr rideouts, they're good fun.

Its a great design for traffic flow i'd have you know!
The way to work it is treat every mini roundabout as a seperate roundabout and you'l be fine just make sure your in the right lane, its basically 5 roundabouts around 1 large one.

I seriously hate that roundabout.

There's also another roundabout in Swindon that's tried to kill me twice, there are signs right over head that I never see until the last minute, so I'm looking directly up at them, and bam, there's a roundabout.

I've done the exact same thing twice.

And for clubs, just head to Bristol. More than you can shake a stick at, but I wouldn't, there are lots of police on a friday night, it's probably an offensive weapon.

The magic roundabout is easy. If you are a scaredycat you can go all round the outside til you get to your exit, or just plough through the middle if you are feeling brave. Cool

It is on the test routes for cars and bikes so if you get your license here you have to know how to deal with it.

Yes go to the bottom of town for slappers and top of town/old town for the slightly more sophisticated (and older.....) clientele.

Booker cash and carry is just round the corner from George Whites, so I guess we all know what you will be doing in your lunchbreaks!
