Have a guess what sort of power/torque it takes to twist a steel sprocket like this? It's not only folded the teeth over but also deformed the lightening-holes:

Okay it was:

600+ RWHP

360 lbs/ft of torque

And the bike had just completed a 249mph run at Woodbridge and a couple of massive rolling-burnouts to show-off Very Happy

One might suggest that the lightening holes are something of an irrelevance.

I remember asking a guy who was building a top fuel bike if he had considered using a more lightweight material for the frame as he was merrily welding even more reynolds tubing to the beast. He replied that the weight of the thing was not really all that important as long as it didn't fold itself in half..

I think the 35-tooth sprocket would be hard to find off-the-shelf without the holes. I''m sure he'll be getting some soild ones made for the next meet Smile

If i ever build a kit car, i think a big cc 'busa turbo engine will be the order of the day Very Happy

That's an insane ammount of power for two wheels. Well, at least for a rear wheel that appear to be curved and not square in section Shocked

BigCC make some of the highest-quality turbo kits out there. Certainly their Geoff-Hill headers are a work of art and carry a 2-year warranty, something you won't find anywhere else in the world far as I know.
If you put a turbo 'busa engine in a car you'll need a billet gearbox and heavy-duty output shaft. Not cheap.

I'd just use the 'busa gearbox. Who needs reverse gear!?

Not for long buddy the busa output shaft won't cope with the extra torque-demands of running it in a car even a light one.

Have a read of this. And may other threads on this section of the forum. Wink

These "Kit cars" are running the Z-cars kit, They are also running direct chain / sprocket to the rear axle. Which is running directly from the hayabusa / R1 / Gixer Thou Gearbox sprocket...

Yeah I'm familiar with the mini-conversions, but never been involved. Wouldn't mind though. You can use stock gearbox with N/A engines but turbocharged needs the heavy-duty output shaft and custom sprocket, like this guy uses:

,,,,,,I be needing to get a 630/13 tooth sprocket for my billet output shaft for the MiniBusa project.....
