Only one word for it.... Bastards.
Read it in MCN.
Apparantly there is no flash...so how they work at night, they must use night vision.
They rotate around, filming the bike from the front, side on, and rear, so if you get done, chances of you getting out of it is very slim.
Being used/tested in east scotland at the moment.

Personally i feel that you deserve to get flashed for speeding past a speed camera as it shows that your observation skills of whats around, before, and behind you are very poor!

How on earth can you not see a speed camera and not slow down then speed back up when you get past it is beyond me.

Ive been out with mates who have been flashed and im like to them how on earth did you not see the camera?
They have no real good answer!

Simply make sure you observe whats around you and you wont get flashed!

yeah right, Stinkwheel has a photo of one hidden 100% behind a road sign , there is one in Bury which is behind a bush,

in Salford there is one hidden in a hedge

in Prestwich they moved the traffic light to the left to obscure the camera.

in Bolton , they moved the bus shelter to obscure it completely,

Bury the legionaires they put a new bus shelter to hide one,

I personally agree with this. I've never received a ticket, either on a car or a bike - seeing a big yellow box isn't hard.

Ther is only one answer and that is pi$$ poor observations. Newer riders don't seem to have any observation skills anymore and thats why they get caught doing silly speeds and in more and more accidents.

That must be one hell of a torquey mounting and VERY sophisticated tracking..that's got to be some pie in the sky prototype no?

Just make sure you're the second bike through and not the first... Wink

Could even involve 3 seperate camera's each facing a diffrent direction.
That would not be rocket sicence to do..

Would need to compute the speed and distance in the girst camera to trigger the side view and rear view ones, maybe even road position, speed it knows, distance should not be too difficult...so maybe, though it does say that it rotates.. Confused

Only if the Camera is operated by one of the speed camera partnerships, and even then, they are only "guidelines."
If a police force are using speed detection, they can be as covert as they like. Unmarked vans hidden behind buildings are a favorite in whales. No amount of observation will help in that case.

Aye. A90 southbound just before Stracathro services. It was still there when I visited my folks at christmas.

Anyway, a rotating head. So I suppose it's going to have a crystal clear picture when someone blows past at 120mph?

I do a bit of photography and it's more down to good luck than good judgement if you want to catch a closeup side view of someone hammering along on a motorcycle. You pan the camera sideways as fast as you can and hit the shutter button at the same time. Sometimes you get lucky.

Must be one hell of a servo.

I heard that there was an even newer type of camera, this one actually follows you home and reports you to the police at the same time, by the time you are home your house has been siezed, your bank accounts frozen and your garden gnomes imprisoned. You are then removed from your bike, stripped naked and your bike and gear is fed into an environmentally friendly recycling machine and turned into vegan friendly shoes. At which point you are taken (butt naked) to the town/city centre and small children are allowed to throw eggs at you. And all because you didn't see the camera, which in all honestly was actually disguised as a small rabbit hiding in the bushes.*

*Maybe made up, I am checking into it.

The editor of Motorcycle News just called. He wants to know if you'd like a job.

Nice pics.....

Perhaps you could use that as evidence if you got caught by that camera. Embarassed

But you should still be able to see the lines on the road. Again something that you should see....

Don't think the A90 camera evidence would be much good, as you don't often drive on the verge. Move out towards the right of the lane or even the offside lane and you can see the camera, been past it numerous times and I'm usually in a hurry to get back from Aberdeen so usually going a fair bit. Once your closer to the sign you can see it from the inside lane, plenty of time to brake unless your doing 140mph, in which case who cares if you get caught. And cameras are allowed to be hidden, there's just rules about whether or not the police can keep the money I think generated by them. Theres one on the Birmingham Ringroad opposite the mosque in Digbeth that's partially hidden, another on the main road through Netherton in Dudley.

As for rotating cameras, sounds rubbish to me, like has been said it wouldn't be fast enough, and what's the point, the back of the bike is the only bit you need a picture of so why not just have a rear facing camera Eh?

Well as I recall, you can't see the thing until you're right on top of it if you're in the left hand lane, you can see the edge of it peeping out in the right hand lane. It's pretty much square behind the sign as you can see from this other photo. They've even got it on a shorter than normal pole.

I took the photo from the verge because I didn't fancy standing in the middle of the A90.

There used to be one at Stracathro on the northbound carriageway that was even worse but it had a bag over it last time I was past.

Reckon that wagon driver can see it? I don't
