Greetings, all. I'm just coming up to 16, and have recently purchased all my gear and my 'ped (Yeah, sucks doesn't it Wink?). I decided to get a ped due to the fact that it's my father buying the bike, and he refuses to buy 2nd hand because he wants the warranty. I didn't think £1,000 was worth it for gears and a small speed increase, so he said he'd put that money towards my bike next year.

Anyway, back to my questions.. I've recently bought a Frank Thomas waterproof jacket (https://www.frank-thomas.co.uk/index.php?pge_id=11&product_id=186) and wasn't sure if it is meant to be like this. My arms are a little short for the jacket, but I need it this big for the torso length and chest size. So I was wandering, are the elbow guards supposed to slip down to the bottom of the arms (almost to the wrists) whenever I straighten my arms for more than a minute? I know they won't be straight on my ped, but it's mildly annoying to have to pull them up.

Another question is about gloves. I picked up a pair of waterproofs for £30, but they seem to be quite poor quality. Whenever you take them off, the inside lining rides out stuck to your fingers, which makes it virtually impossible to put them back on without pushing the fingers back in with a pen. So I was thinking of buying a new pair, anyone have any to recommend?

Well, thanks for reading my post of lame introductions and even lamer questions, and thanks in advance for replying Smile

urm you seem to have bought everything thats water proof! Razz
im more concerned about safety than being slightly wet.

anyway onto your questions,

they shouldnt really slip but if they are fine whilst your on your ped theres not really a problem. Trying to keep them on your elbows may not be the best idea as it may compromise the protection??

my jacket measures up like yours a little short at the sleeves but good round the chest. so i dont think you should worry. plus gloves should go over there nicely.

for gloves i would get down to Hein Gericke and see what fits you and your pocket.

My pads on my jacket do that if I really stretch my arms out, if I'm like yawning or something, but they don't really do that with my arms straight.

In regards to gloves I have a pair of these

https://www.frank-thomas.co.uk/index.php?pge_id=11&product_id=58

and they are incredibly warm, totally water proof, and very comfy. I have notice after about 6 months of use one of the wrist straps has started to loose its stitching, but I'd be able to do that back up again easy enough Wink

Mine do this, their not poor quality, you have to hold the fingers as you pull your hand out then the lining stays in, what make are they? Mine are buffalo.

Not too sure, and it's impossible to get them not to do it. I tried loosening the tips off first, making sure to grab the lining, but to no avail.

And well, I'm not too sure about the whole waterproof vs. safety bit. I don't think I'm at much of a risk compared to you guys (yes, I know I'm not safe) but Mike seems to think I've got adequate protection (Mike Grainger that is, don't know if any of you have heard of him - he used to hold the EU Motorcycle Speed record and knows quite a bit about biking) so I guess I'll be fine.

Thanks for the help Smile.

As regards to gloves i have just got back from a 2 hour ride on an un-faired 600 wearing these and they are great. I've had them since xmas and haven't suffered cold or wet hands yet. Great buy for fifty quid.

I recently bought a pair of these... best gloves I have worn. Nice spring/summer/autumn gloves. Arent super warm but are good enough if you dont mind your hands getting a bit cold..

mine are a different colour however, you have to try gloves on though. I had tried a few on. When I put these on I knew they were the ones I wanted.

welcome to the board. The FT jacket youve got SOUNDS about right in the fitting..when your arms are outstretched in front ,the cuffs should just touch your wrists,as for the elbows, the armour SHOULD cover your elbows and the back of the fore arms..too big is better than toosmallin my opinion.Tim Thumbs Up
