hey guys

my girlfriend started her cbt today, although sadly she was told after the off road training that she wasn't ready for the road yet.

she has to go back next week and do some more off road practise. she's really gutted.

any advice/words of wisdom or support would be much appreciated

thanks

Yeah just tell her shes getting extra training for the same price Very Happy
That and its obviously better for her to go this way then them let her out on the road when she is not ready.
Safer for everyone all round.

At the end of the day....Whats the rush ?

She'll get there

Hey, I had to do an extra hour or two of cbt, the week after. It also took me four times to pass my test, Im not embarrased.
Three years later, riding in central london all year round Ive never had an accident. And I never take it easy in any weather.

Just tell her not to worry about it.

The CBT is hardly a representation of riding skill. I remember riding home from my CBT feeling completely useless and making mistakes.

There will be plenty of time for fun on the road and she will be better at it when she gets there with the extra time on CBT.

I remember riding home from my CBT and nearly killing myself on my first sweeping bend.... not so easy to turn a bike at 30 on your first day... I ended up on the pavement on the other side of the road...

This is pretty much the line I took... lucky there was nothing coming in the other lane.

I know how your girlfriend feels. I had to go back and finish my CBT at a later date. It was really disappointing and made me feel completely useless! But as everyone else said the extra training will be really good.
I would have died if I'd gone on the road first time round, but since I'd had the extra time to practise corners and play with gears I was a little safer (though not by much Laughing ).

When I got on my bike after the CBT was a completely different story.... I was a deathtrap Embarassed stalling at every junction or doing almost wheelies (weird lurching type thing Embarassed ). Took my instructors 'don't use front brake on corners' to heart and camped out on the back brake, made for a long long stoping distance Neutral .
I'm slightly better now except passing pedestrian women now give me problems... Laughing
