Right, basically the situation might arise where I need to answer my phone while riding my bike, so I'm thinking about getting one of those borg-style Bluetooth thingys.

So I have a few questions - which one, will it be loud enough, and can I answer the phone using voice commands alone?

Anyone with any experience of these things?

Some of them will allow you to answer the phone using voice commands, but I found my bluetooth headset bulky and uncomfortable under the helmet, and the person I was speaking to couldn't hear a thing I was saying.

Better to get a bluetooth intercom type thingy, that will act as a dedicatde helmet bluetooth headset

There's more than one way to skin a cat, as the saying goes. As Feef says, a standard Bluetooth thingy isn't going to work too well as it's not designed for the job.

Some helmet manufacturers make Bluetooth equipped helmets, with the handfree stuff built-in.

It depends how much money you want to spend, and how you're going to use it. If you're only going to use it when stopped, then a standard ear-piece might do the job. If you want to makes calls on the move, then you'll need something with noise-cancelling so as to get rid of the wind noise for the person you're calling.

I've got a Garmin Zumo GPS unit that has a built-in Bluetooth hands-free feature. I've also got an Autocom system, and the Zumo is plugged in to that so not only do I get navigation instructions, but I can make and recieve calls on the move.

It's not a cheap option as the Zumo is about £450, then you need the Autocom and the bespoke Zumo connection lead. But it does work very well - so much so that when I phoned my parents on Sunday, they didn't know I was out on the 'bike in a howling gale.

Highly recommended. Works very well... even at high speed! Thumbs Up

It will allow you to answer and dial with voice commands (depending on phone) or you can set it to auto answer.

It has a main 'dial' button and also a redial button to call the last number. I wear earplugs and have no problem with the volume levels.

Try This lot
They are selling them for around £130 for the duo one. Which is pretty good considering everywhere else seems to be nearer £200.... And one a year old just went for £150 on ebay then there was the P+P on top...
