Hi people,

soon I will be looking to change that baffled thing under my arse for something a bit more free-flowing.

Obviously I will be throwing in a power commander and air filter to go with it!!

Question is, do I go for something that sounds nice (i.e. a LeoVince end-can) or something that will guarantee the most power (i.e. a nice Arrow full system job like mr toseland himself!)

Thinking I may go with the Arrow, but just wondered if you had any opnions based on previous experience?

(NB// Even if you dont have a CBR your opinion will be listened to!)

Cheers! Thumbs Up

I would do some research into it, not all bikes gain power from a full exhaust system.

that's my biggest worry. Will the downpipes actually make a [noticeable] difference?

The guy at Stevenage you go to said that with a full arrow, dynojet and K&N I am looking at around 15bhp.

He said 10bhp without the downpipes (I think).

Yeah but they are allways a bit enthusiastic, same with terry's. You might find 7bhp ish at the rear wheel is a bit more realistic. But to be honest will you use that extra power?

Go for a full system if you want but go for one that sounds best or you want, dont go by who says which one will give you more power when to be honest you wont use the power youve got.

From a full system you might get a semi-decent power boost, the can is of smaller consequence. Although this changes from bike to bike.

On a bandit 1200 for example it's not unheard of for an end-can swap to free up 15-20bhp.

Akrapovic to me says 'quality' over the others.

For something a bit more original how about Arata? Supposedly better quality than Akra but on the RR it's angled so an acquired taste.

Got a Micron Delta+ and it sounds superb without being over the top, loud. Don't think there are any power gains, just the bike now sounds as fast as it is.

i have a custom made exhaust on mine from a guy known as raven racing, it sounds just sexual, there isnt a hugely noticeable difference in the performance although the midrange power seems improved. But i love it because it is unique and sounds alot different and better in my opinion to the usual suspects exhausts. I guess it all depends on your budget really. one of these will set you back £480. But he will make it exactly how you want it, if you want maximum power or if you want ground shattering sound its all up to you.

Thanks (and Karma) to you all.

V helpful.

I'm currently thinking: if I want the extra power, spending well over £1000 on air filter, power commander, full system, dyno runs just doesnt sound sensible. Probably best to get a blade!

But I'm well happy with the 600 and don't want anything outrageous. So at the moment I'm thinking LeoVince purely coz it is the best sound!

At the end of the day, a can without a baffle is a can without a baffle!

So just out of interest, any of you guys fitted your own?

If so, how easy are they to fit?

If you get the full system mate is just a matter of a few bolts, take old one of put new one on, i could do that for you.

Yup, got mine off ebay and fitted myself. Fairly straightforward.
Take off both seats and undo the screws that hold the tail fairing on.
Unplug the indi/ brake light.
remove right hand rear set and heat shielding. Exhaust held on by 3 bolts and a clamp at the CAT end (i missed the middle bolt and spent ages trying to wiggle the exhaust free)
Clean existing pipe from gasket and reverse the process adding the new exhaust with new sealant on. Took me about an hour

The can or full system? I've taken the exhaust off my old Ninja's, its really easy to do. I'm guessing most sports bikes are the same in terms of getting the exhaust off. I had to undo the radiator bolts to get access to the downpipes and get them off. Its not hard.

I've got a full Titanium Akrapovic system on my R6. Just found out its not Dyno-jetted and has the standard filter but got a read out showing 105 at the rear wheel. The full system must be doing something, I thought it would be about 95 at the wheel in standard trim. Who knows.
