If you had to retake your test, how many of you reckon you could pass with flying colours or even just pass?
was getting bored and didn't see a thread on this so here we go.

Considering ive just passed my test. I think my riding is still very "By the book" in terms of checks. (Which it should be throughout any bikers riding life anyway). The only thing I would probably be shot down on would be my speed.

Although I think going back to an SR125 would be ultimate torture. I find the 400 ALOT easier to ride. Shoulder checks are so easy and you don't have to worry about drifting to the other side of the lane whilst you are looking behind you (Like it was on the SR125).

The 400 just seems to want to stop and turn corners alot smoother.

So yes, I could pass my test again I think. Thumbs Up

Easy,

as long as I could put my feet down when doing a u turn, I could ignore the speed limit, overtaking into oncoming traffic was ok as long as I have my light on, abuse of other road users got extra merit, filtering at high speed to the front of any and every queue was mandatory, there's an understanding that the one way system rules don't apply to bikes, and my emergency stop allowed the back wheel to leave the floor.

When I did my test the you had to ride around a preset street route, basically a square. The examiner would walk around. The emergency stop consisted of the examiner attempting to hide in a crowd of people. He would then randomly step into the road and put his hand up. The idea was not to hit him.

I can remember the basics and I still do the checks, but I've picked up too many bad habits so I definately wouldnt be able to pass.

Only been riding for just under 4 months since my test so bad habits aren't too entrenched. I passed with 0 minors so I recon I could scrape a pass now with the a few minors from missing the odd thing...

Now I've been driving a car for around 8 years and I know for sure I couldn't pass that test. I drive with one hand on the steering wheel for the most part and cross my arms the rest of the time, I find it hard not to speed too.

With an hour or so lesson from an instructor I could..

But I'd struggle.

I mean.

Emergency stop I'd be doing a rolling stoppie, with 1 hand waving to some passer bys.

And the U-turn? Well I could do it, but I'd be on the back wheel Wink

I might pass?? Laughing

When I lived in Cyprus. Our next door neighbor Lorie took his bike test on just that. A Bike.

A Push bike!

In a car park. Reason being, The "Test center" had no bikes available. As crazy as it sounds. It is very very true.

Funnily enough, he crashed a week after "Passing" his "test".

I reckon I could, yes. I'd need to concentrate on doing what they want for a test an not what I normally do though.

I'd need to revise for the theory test though because it is just a series of trick/ambiguous questions.

A Parsee i used to work with did his test in Mumbai - the test involved riding to one end of the carpark, turning round and riding back again. If you failed this rather difficult test, you could pay the examiner extra and he would pass you anyway.
When i asked my mate whether he passed or not - he replied he gave the examiner an extra 50 rupees (i think), the examiner patted him on the back and told him he'd pick it up as he went on.
Thumbs Up

Well since I only did my DAS towards the end of 2005, plus I'm now giving pointers to a newbie biker in the family ATM... so I'd like to think that I'd be able to ride to test standard if needed

Yep.

Only been on 2 wheels for 18 months now and haven't picked up too many bad habits yet I suppose.

As mentioned before, if I concentrated and just rode nice and relaxed then hell yeah Thumbs Up

Haha Laughing . I would have ridden faster if it wasn't for that guy on the Ducati Monster! He was a perfect example of someone who would NOT pass his test if he took it again. At the classroom part he didn't know what a lifesaver was and he rode like he was on a mobility scooter on the road.

as long as you can't now be failed for changing down through the gear box, instead of braking and then selecting the correct gear, then yes.

Not a Fooking chance Very Happy Passed my test 3 weeks after my 17 birthday 20 years ago. Just a part 1 and part 2 test then.

This does not make me a bad rider though in the same way i passed my car test 19 years ago but can drive better than any newly passed cage driver. As the old saying goes pass your test then learn to dirve/ride.
