Hi my 1979 CG 125 is kicking back and also expeling air (missfire) and wont start... Would this be anything to do with me putting to much redex lead replacement in or me adjusting the idle speed.. If not any suggestions with what the problem might be ?

Is anyone gonna suggest help for me please!!!!!!!

Have you had it long?

Kickstarts can be a bastard if you've not got the technique!

It is likley you need new points or at least adjust them.
They are behind the flywheel.

Paddy.

Another vote for ignition timing. As I recall on the CG, points gap and ignition timing are all on the same adjustment. If the points are worn out, it is impossable to get the timing right. A duff condenser could also be implicated (would cause the points to burn out rapidly). Happily, both parts are normal consumables and should be cheap as chips.

At 1979, it wont need the redex anyway (wont do any harm though). The Japanese went onto unleaded fuel in 1978 so it will have hardened valve seats. You might need to use higher octane fuel if it pinks on unleaded but I doubt a CG has a high enough compression ratio for this to be an issue.
