PostPosted: 19:19 - 29 May 2007    Post subject: Bennetts Insurance....Good Idea? Reply with quote

Hey guys,
I shall be getting insured on my bike fairly soon and ive found that Bennetts seem to have given me the best quote
However, ive heard that they are not very reliable and have given people problems...
Has this been the case for anyone? Should i steer clear?
My second best quote was from H and R Insurance, is anyone familiar with this company?
The difference in price is only about £30...all adds up though! Razz
Any advice is much appreciated
Thanks Thumbs Up

do a BCF search for bennetts up ^there^ and check out a few threads, I've been with them for a couple of months now and had no trouble, but too many people have had all sorts of problems, but I don't wanna cancel my policy and lose the years ncb Confused Also, who are bennetts insuring you with? Maybe find out and ring them, try getting it cheaper direct

Bennetts tend not to include legal cover in their quotes so it will probably work out about the same as your next best quote if you add that on. I'm with Bennetts but I haven't had the misfortune to put a claim in yet so can't really comment on how bad they are.

Bennetts have been good with me, didn't ask for any proof like H&R did, had to send proof of alarm & license.
When i had my accident, they paid out for my bike within 2 weeks & i had a courtesy bike within a couple of days.
I'd use them again.

I recently took my second policy out with Bennetts, had no probs last year, and so went with them again. There were the cheapest both times.

However, I have never put in a claim... so I don't know what they are like if you need to claim off of them...

Bennetts don't include stuff like 'any bike' on comp insurance either.

Was with H & R for my cage for years, highly recommended. Thumbs Up

Ive had no end of trouble, mainly causing me to be out of pocket and getting threats of debt collection, would not recommend

Are the cheapest for us but really not worth the hassle

they wanted my 2yrs NCB proof, so I had to get it off Highway MC via Swinton/collonade to send it to Bennetts so they could forward it onto Highway MC, not that an internal mail chap couldn't take it between departments.... Rolling Eyes

Bennets have a very expensive excess, plus if its your first bike then you will be more likely to drop it and need repairs done.

I would try express insurance, i went with them because their offical suzuki sponsors but they also got me a very good price. Seem to be pretty good service and threw in a load of extras as well.

Express

Both are decent reputable companies, Bennetts tend to be on the expensive side especially for young riders.

I would check to see which has the lowest excess, lowest interest rate if paying by instalments (H & R finance is very expensive) and which include any breakdown cover and legal cover.

Other than you're sorted Thumbs Up

Express can be very hit and miss. They are not motorbike specialists like Bennetts and H & R and i'm not sure they have the Suzuki Rizla sponsorship any more. The sponsoship deal is not indicative of any kind of motorcycle insurance speciality. They are in essence just a general insurance call centre with a high turnover of staff. They can be very cheap though and have a decent IT set up.

Bennets are normally cheaper but i certainly wont be re insuring with them next year.It took me weeks to change my two bikes onto a one bike policy after their error and not sorting it out in the first place.I even had final demand letters from their collections dept claiming i owed them money.

cheap insurance = crap customer service

The left hand does not know what the right hand is doing - pretty much the same as the government except thats just on a bigger scale.

Motorcycle Direct offered me a pretty good deal, TPFT was a few bob cheaper than any quote i got with bennetts but also threw in european cover for 30days and i was covered to ride any bike 3rd party.

carole nash is still top in my book.I will be going to them as soon as i finish with bennetts.

Went with them before and fell for the 'cheaper trap' by about 50 pounds in bennets favour. In my opinion i wish i had just spent the extra....

forgot to mention yeah bennetts are pants, they randomly cancelled my policy before xmas because apparently i hadnt paid... when i rang them up to tell them i had paid the full premium months ago they said they'd had a "systems error" that cancelled it. then they tried to charge me for reinstating the policy. My colleague also finds them pretty incompetent

As always just shop around and play companies off each other to get the best quote.

I went with MCE for my NSR at £432.99 which is dirt cheap. Everyone else quoted me £700+ and told me to go buy the policy while it's available.

Got breakdown cover aswell all in on finance at £510.
