you dont look stupid, at all in my opinion

and its down to a simple choice, IF you did fall off would you rather get up and walk away and feel a little stupid, or would you like a few layers of skin removed, and have to be scraped off the floor by the ambulance chaps

the only time you would look stupid in leathers is on a moped (like mine)

If you got knocked off wearing shorts and t-shirt..well it only takes 5 feet to get to bone goin 30mph i'm told.. I seen a fella on the same colour NSR i had with all the leathers, didn't look out of place at all i didn't think.

probly the thing i fear most about motorcycling, is having your skin stripped off you to the bone, so even i wear a leather jacket its brown, and my dad wore it in his teens when he rode

it isnt exactly the height of fashion, but i happily wear it knowing it will do at least some good if i happen to fall off, despite it being brown :?

just jealous I reckon- if they don't even ride bikes then they don't even know what they're talking about or have the right to an opinion on the matter. Like you say the NSR does 100 and at 100 you NEED to be wearing proper gear- tell them to FUCK OFF.

Talking of gear how many people wear proper bike boots? do you think you need them? my budget doesn't stretch to proper boots but I think I might try and get some Army surplus boots- they're really cheap and they should still be pretty strong. I've got some safety boots but I'm worried about using them on the bike cos my instructor told me that the steel cap can bend back and chop your toes off!

I came off my NSR at pretty low speed wearing army style boots (hitech Mangnums) and the stitching came apart in a coupla places... If at all possible get proper bike boots, other boots will be better than nothing but they're your feet you're risking.

(Conversly my flat mate uses his bike boots for work, everyday... the stitching has come apart on his from walking too much while mine are fine and I use them everyday as well)

what make of boots do you use and what make are your flatmates? just so I know which ones to avoid if I get some cos I'll be wearing mine all day as well.

in novermber last year i came off my nsr i was wearing an armoured jaket but i was only wearing jeans. i came off at only 5-10 mph my top half was fine my legs however wasnt my jeans riped and my left leg was sredded i was limping untill december and am now scared because of it. so when i got back on the road i spent £1000 on safety gear. i got an arai quantum f helmet = £400 an pair of alpine star gloves = £100 a pair of datona race boots = £150 and a hein gerrick 1 peice leather suit = £400.

i have never had any coments ect from a guy on a rs125 "who hadnt crashed yet".

basically what im trying to say is at 30mph you can be on an rs 50 or a gsxr 1000 but when you come off with no safety gear the same thing is gunna happen so you may as well make shure as somebody said above that if you do have a crash YOU WALK AWAY FROM IT Smile

ride safe

hi guys,

i had the same thing as cytson, cam off my old bike only with jeans at about 20 mph and the jeans ripped and i got some scratches,

since then ive invested some money in leather and bought a 2 piece kit, matching My bike, Top half is Yellow, white, blk this is my jacket and bottom half is blu and blk and some white!! these r the trousers, if ppl laugh at u tell them to piss off!!!!

bikers wont laugh at u if ur wearing leathers on a 125, theyll give u more respect as ur not some kid that rides around on an RS125 not giving a crap about the biking world""!!!

What I hate is when people on cool looking bikes wear tracksuit bottoms/runners/illumnious jackets etc. It just makes them look crappy and brings down the cool biker look. One of the main reasons I have a (sports)bike is because they look cool and the women love them.

I was looking at biker boots the other day and the price you pay for Alpinestars is fucking ridiculous. They're a complete rip-off! Saw some other non-brand boots that were nearly as good, looked good and were half the price. Guess you pay for labels in biking aswell! Exclamation

hi
I got a full rossi racing leather 2 piece suit with armour an everything, an 150 agv lid and oxstar boots. People at college take the mick out me 2, there always sayin "oohh kinkey leather" ect, put it this way everyone need a leather jacket. If u can get ure knee down you need leather jeans with knee sliders, so therefore u need boots otherwise u wont have any shoes left, and you look pretty stupid with trainers and leather jeans, that my excuse anyway. Plus twats on 125's with jumpers tracksuit bottoms and trainers are well twats, i dont like that sort of lot, when i go to meets i usually speak to the old guys rather than the teenage 2im so hard not wearing leathers" lot soz any of u who r that but u deserve it

A bloke at my place wears all black leathers, boots the works and do you wanna know what bikes he's got?

a suzuki 250 and a 100cc scooter (anyone who's seen heartbeat thing nicky berrick's bike)

and he wears them on his scoot with it's oh so cool screen, the thing is what worse being laughed at or being on the floor in many pieces?

I dont have any safety gear ATM apart from lid and gloves but as soon as i get some money im gonna get a Dainese 2 piece boots the works because 1.they look damn nice 2.it's my life im messing with without them.

I've come off my old CG about 10 times but only once above 10mph (came off at 30) but surprisingly i was wearing my works safety boots, Corus safety trousers and a jean jacket. I went sliding down the road for about 15 yards and the only damage was the bikes indicator and a few scratchs on me lid.

dont know how but i dont wanna chance it ever again, i know my hobby is dangerous but i dont have to make it more dangerous if i dont have to

Mine are the same Hitech magnums... I am going to get some proper ones soon, been spending all my money on computers recently :)
My flat mate's got Teknik boots but I doubt any bike boots will be that good (he does work in the electrical department of a big Sainsburys so he's walking around all day)

i always wear proper gear,ie leather pants, proper armoured jacket, gloves and proper boots.
the pants were off my brother inlaw so i was lucky with them,
£80 for the jacket,£40 gloves, £80 boots.
i alway suggest wearing proper boots as they have the armour on the ankles which would save them if your sliding down the road with the bike ontop of you.
Dont worry about looking a tit, the only ones that people laugh at are the,
weekend warriors on R1's etc wearing t'shirt shorts and trainers.
Get proper gear no matter how much it costs, remember leather is a lot
cheaper than skin.

I used to wear an akito cougar jacket, alpine star sp2 gloves, roof boxer r10 helmet and spidi boots, this was until a car pulled out in front of me..... i hit the bonnet went over it smashed the windscreen then rolled over the roof and onto the tarmac.... not a scratch or a bruise on me so the gear must work.

Think i scared the shit out of quite a few people when i got up brushed glass from the side of my helmet and walked around to inspect the damage Smile

I know what u mean, I got knocked off by some idiot changing lanes without looking on a roundabout, consequently the little metro tried scholder Evil or Very Mad barging my RS125 and I came off at forty. I skidded Shocked across the road for about 20meters and got up straight away. The look on the witnesses faces was so funny, one of them said they didn't think I'd ever be able to walk again and the other said they were amazed. I had a stiff neck and back but thats it

Luckily I was just setting off for a ride out so I was wearing my Hien Gericke 2 piece pro sport competition 2s, Alpinestar SMX boots and decent gloves and helmet. Ive also lost the front of my bike whilst getting my kneedown as well in my gear and after both crashes theyve stood up well.

Does anyone else ever wear a baggy fleece/sports jumper Twisted Evil over their leathers it looks well good (and makes u look huge).

I'm thinking about getting one of those Knox PKX armoured tops, that way, I can just wear a sweatshirt over the top...

But I would prefer to try one before I buy, but I can't find a feckin' shop in Bristol that has 'em in stock!...
