Hiya all,

As I'm still undecided about what to do for my next bike, and as Im getting quite pissed off with deciding and then changing my mind, I thought I would turn to you lovely peeps for some help!

Basically I have decided that if I go for a restricted 600 as my next bike its going to be a 99 R6, as I dont think I could get decent insurance on a newer model. However if I decide not to go for a 600 im going to get an RVF 400.

Now what I need help with is decided between the above two! An R6 would be brilliant, but I would have to pay loads for insurance, get it restricted and get it delivered as there are none near me, none of these problems exist with an RVF, but it means sticking with a 400. I cant seem to decide what to do, especially since the RVF I want is about the same price as an R6!

Help please folks!
Many thanks
Cougs.

Hey Cougs,

Due to some unfortunate events in recent months, I don't think that R6's can be recommended. Confused Wink

The RVF will still need to be restricted - unless you mean that you can get one with restrictors already fitted?

Have you thought about an SV650? They might work better restricted, and because they're official UK bikes, insurance will be a tad cheaper.

If you want the ultra-sensible route, then I'd say stick with the CBR for a little while longer. How long have you had your licence now?

Heya TiN,

Cheers for your advice, again! How come R6s arent to be recommended? I've been absent from the news for a while!

For the price of this RVF they will put the restrictors in for me, or they wont get a sale Smile Interesting about the SV, but I only like the new ones, and I dont think that would be viable.

In the back of my mind i know the CBR is the most sensible option, but im sick of things going wrong, and every time i fork out for new fairings they go and fall off! I can totally accept that its my fault for nackering it though! Very Happy

Cougs.

Oh right ok!

Yeah my fairings are cursed for some reason, I think when I ditched the bike it did something major, they have fallen off down the motorway twice now!

The RVF is a bit of a loony price at the mo, its a Rossi rep with about 6000 miles, 94 bike I think advertised at nearly 4K! Shocked

There is no way I would pay that though, I think that with the restrictors thrown in I might stretch to 3.5K, or is this stupid?

Cougs.

Take it from me mate, you will *never* resell an RVF at a price anywhere near the price you've paid, even if dealers can. Do you really want to pay £3.5k for a 9 year old bike?

Yeah the insurance is cheeper on a sv650s 460.0 comp compared to 650. for a vfr/rvf400

This is garaged, spyball alarm, 3 years ncb, held lin. 3 years.

I asked why the sv was cheeper there responce was , that the sv60s is two groups lower, has got a lower theft rate, low claim rate, and better usabilty, not a racing position.

Yeah I see your point TiN, and to answer your question, no I dont wanna pay 3.5K for a 9 year old bike. Its just that I have no way of telling if all the extra requirments and costs of me going to a 600 is worth it?

i like the R6, it has thrown my down the road twice now, in the space of about a month, and i think its gonna be written off...

however i dont think either of these accidents are down to the fact its an R6, got through a year without incident on the CBR250, maybe now, someone is making up for it

not a clue... Confused
