Year 11 lad at school is soon to do his CBT. I told him to do it on a geared machine but he says that will cost more than a squirter.
Is this normal and what should he expect to pay?
Thanks
W

Where i did mine it was your own choice if it was done on a geared or twist and go. Maybe this place only has scooters and will need to hire one?

It didnt cost me any extra to choose what i did it on, even though they emssed it up at the end and i did it on a twist and go (i know im ashamed Embarassed ).

He should try ringing around first and checking out different offers etc.

Might be wortth him shopping round....cos some places do discounts for students. The place where I did mine offered 20% for students and anyone who had already dont the CBT or DAS with them, and were booking for another family member.

Is a CBT the same for T&G and geared or can you only ride squirters on a squirter CBT?

Dont quote me on it but i believe you do the same course for the day just with some added clutch instruction etc. Only real difference is they can specify on the CBT that it is only for T&G i think. Im sure there was something along the lines of this on my CBT, however he ticked full motorcycle on mine Mr. Green

Trouble is if he's year 11 then can only be 50cc and most of the CBT places around here didn't have any geared 50cc bikes Sad.
Personally I did my CBT on a squirter and then rode my geared 50 and was never told anything about it. Instructor said it was ok to do it though :s

That may be the reason, I had not thought about his age.

You can do your CBT on a Scootay and ride a geared bike, the section that the instructor ticks to say whether you did it on a geared or auto bike is for information only.
