I knew him as Russ T. Peg.
Worked with him, like. For a while, before the incident.
I don't know if anyone told you, but last week, somebody beat him to death with a mallet. Yeah, a mallet.
Only his head was sticking out of the ground, it was awful. Black rubber marks all over. Dints in the ground. Terrible. They'd left a section of cord around his neck—tried to hang him before he went, we think. But it was a bodge job—when they dug him out, he was all bent. Caked in mud. It was a real task, I tell you.

The police aren't sure who did it, but we've got a sneaking suspicion it was Al Loij Sçru. You know, the Romanian crime lord?
