I got a call on the phone today from a cop.He said he was looking for a
guy I know. That he was a witness a while back and did he live in the same
place.I said up to six weeks ago yes but think he may have moved.
Then he said well it is not him but another guy I knew that he is after and
there are arrest warrants out for him and the cop would like to meet with
him.
Is there a limitation on warrants for selling class a and having a deadly
weapon. Shocked
Is there a time limit to enforce the warrent

Paddy.

Not sure what you mean about 'limitation' on a warrant. There is no time limit though, if the warrant has been issued its there till it is served.

As a last chance to get the guy.
I cant see why they would phone me.
I have no record or problem with them.

The police were looking for me for over a year, they finally traced me to an old address where my my missus was registered as living there too, they couldn't get hold of her but traced her to her Dad. They then phoned him and asked for my address. They went through all of that even though they had my mobile phone number on record! ! Idiots !
If they had rang me I would have gone in as I didn't even know there was a warrant out for me. How clever were those particular coppers? And these are the people meant to keep the public safe, I swear its mental.

*note this is not aimed at all police officers, in light of recent threads Razz

Might not even have been the police, in a previous job I used to hold, we'd phone & visit people posing as anything we felt useful for getting the answers. Popular with tracing agents is calling at the neighbours and asking for the person they're looking for, the neighbour says "Oh no, this is the wrong house... You want number 14." Job done, address confirmed.

We used to call it "Using a pretext." Its just lying really. Cool

Not sure about criminal law, I don't think there is a statute of limitation, for civil law its 6 years. I had a 7 day producer which I was told got dumped after 2 years, I imagine it'll be different for carrying an offensive weapon and posession.

Investigator. I hated using the title PI, it hinted at a glamour that was definately absent. Others call it Private Enquiry Agent, one of the other guys at the time really sank himself into the idea and just told people he was a legal secretary; something to do with maintaining his 'cover.' I'm pretty sure there is no statute of limitations on a criminal offence, especially indictable ones.

I thought after five years the warrant ended if the offence was for drug
pushing or something like that.
At least it's not me he is looking for. Smile

I phoned the station he said he was at and they confirmed that he is.

Thank's.
Paddy.

I can't understand why they would be telling you sensitive information over the phone.
They clearly are grasping at straws trying to find him when there are many other ways to locate / trace a person including Council tax office, Job Centre (if he's a slacker), solicitor last used, benefits agency etc. Last place i would try is his old flatmate.

Maybe a bogus call, could be a fellow scally looking to do a hit.

You only need fit the profile to be a cop it seems.

Some of the ones I have had the hilarious pleasure in meeting recently would be hopeless at Snap.

I do not know what they teach them at training college.

Spelling and how to use those stupid words they use when interviewed on telly. Laughing

It's not that hard to be a 'Criminal Master Mind' now then.
