Hi

I have always wanted to own a bike. I love the thought of the freedom a bike would give. I'm yet to take my tests and buy a bike. I'm thinking along the road of a cbr600f. What are these bikes like to own?

For a noob, very fast Twisted Evil

How old are you?
How much spare cash have you got lying about?
What would the bike be used for?

Dont buy a bike based purely on its looks/performence, have a sit on a few and see what the position is like and known problems etc.

i am soon to be 27. I have enough spare cash to manage a bike. I also have a 600bhp R32 GTR so i'm not stranger to speed and have a lot of respect for it. The bike will be a weekend toy.

Ok to live with 22-27p per mile, depending on oil and tyres (includes EVERYTHING but insurance and tax)

needs oil every 3 K
Valves every 12K (£200 jobbie)
needs pads every 4-5K
etc

Oil's every 4k and valves are every 16k, actually. Wink

To be blunt, just cos you drive a fast car doesn't mean you're necessarily ready for a fast bike (and vice versa, before anyone moans).

I'd sort your test out and see how you feel, then decide. You might find that the 500cc DAS bike is plenty for a while, or at least having your licence will mean you can test ride a few things and see what suits you.

And just to back that up... a well-timed cautionary tale:
