My back gate measures 28.75 inches, anyone manage to get a large bike (VFR800, CBR600F to be precise) through a similar sized gap?

It will be difficult since you might need to walk alongside.

Fit a 12 bar, the handlebars will be over the gate posts when you wheelie in Cool

Looks like you might be needing somewhere else to live then! Laughing

Or get a lock-up? Or take the gate (and posts) off and replace them with a lockable iron bar arrangement to give you some extra inches?

I can probably increase it to 29.75 inches by hacksawing a section of wood off that the door butts up against (At handlebar level)

My Blade goes through a door that is exactly 28.75" (I've just measured it) with me on it. I have to dip the clutch lever, but otherwise it's an easy fit.

Maybe back entries are a standard size then?

I managed to get a Deauville through, but I had to put the front end in and then ram it through with my feet on the pegs...

My mate can get his F3 ninja in too, but its a complete BALLACHE but I don't know if that's just him being shit at gates Razz

Sorry, it's more of a 'door' to a back yard than a gate Razz

I reckon it should fit OK, but you might need some help from the A-Team.

I've got exactly the same problem - my gate is 29" wide (from memory) and I have to fold in the mirrors on ER5 to get it in. The missus can just fit her YBR through, but when she had an SR she used to have to wiggle the bars to get them through.

My gate is an extra pain as there is a 4" high step to get the bikes over and I have to reverse the bike in. I've got a set of wooden ramps I made but it is still a pain to get it in.

I looked at other bikes a while back and it sems that mirrors/bars tend to be the widest points. I reckon I could get a curvy SV650s in there but the naked one has wider bars.

I'd hate to be in that situation, if it was me, I wouldn't be worrying about getting the bike through, but getting me fat arse through. Thumbs Up Mr. Green

Hmm, well my GS500E is 29.3" apparently, and I can get that in with a wiggle of the bars

Widest point of the VFR (Not including the folding mirrors) were the bars at about 28.5 I think.

This may be doable! :>

I usually have a struggle to get the GPZ in and out of the side door of the garage (on to the patio for a washdown), cos due to the shape of the garden it has to be wheeled thru the door at an angle.

I usually have to fold the mirrors inwards, until they're almost touching the levers, then lean the bike from one side to the other as the bars go thru. It's still a tight squeeze, but I manage to do it as long as I'm sat on it. Wink

Thankfully I don't have the same trouble on a daily basis, cos the garage is so full of workbenches, tools and the kids mountainbikes etc that the OH can't get the car in there, so the bike has pride of place Thumbs Up

Call youselves 'Bikers'?

You buy the bike you want then change your house to suit.

That's a No brainer FFS... Laughing

If it's wooden, ghetto-mod it. Check out my desk;

Bit of a poor picture, but i had to cut about 6" square out of my desk to get my desk to fit there (PC is huge, sits on the right of my desk)

I've been worrying about the same thing with my CBR125 arriving tomorrow (wednesday).

I think it will be close, but should fit through with a bit of a wiggle Smile

I ride myne through a narrow gate which is about 6ft high. I have wide bars aswell.

I approach at a slight angle, tilt the bike to get one side of the bar+mirror in then tilit the other way to get the other side in.

You can just about see the gate in the below pic. I been away last week and left the bike at the girlfriends so managed to screeze it into the shed you see. Fuck that was a pain on my own, had sweat dripping from me after i finally got it in. The gravel didn't help with pushing it about.
