Hey dere

I am hoping someone out there can help me out.

I am taking my girlfriend to London on saturday. And I am hoping to be able to find something creative to do. All in all I am trying to impress a little.

I am open to any suggestions, no matter how out-of-the-box they are. Just looking to do something other then the ordinary touristy type things.

Ideas with a slightly more romantic theme (much as I love going to the pub) and those that are easier on the budget are especially welcome!

Thanks folks!!!

I have got to recommend the Tate Modern then - it's free for a start Very Happy

Take a picnic for lunch in Hyde Park, something a little more original than sarnies and pork pies. Maybe a nice bagette, a chunk of brie, a bottle of wine and some olives.
Sadly there's nothing on at the Albert Hall, otherwise I would have suggested a lunchtime concert (which are mostly free) but it may be worth checking with the Guildhall School of Music or Associated Board if they have any matinee concerts Smile

Always a good place to start. Very Happy

Tons of stuff on there, and some of the walks to print off are brilliant if the weather's good (the old city walk, and the South bank walk are really nice). Have a picnic in Regents Park or St James Park, or there's a Marks and Spencer 'simply food' place just opposite St Pauls if you fancy a snack on the steps of the Cathedral.

If you're gonna go for a pint, head for theTattershall Castle down by Embankment, it's a Pub/Boat almost opposite the London Eye where you can enjoy a beer with great views of Westminster.

If you're gonna have something to eat in the evening head up to Wong Kei in Chinatown, the waiters have a reputation for being rude as fuck, so they really play up to it, but the service is fast, the food is cheap and decent, and it's pretty funny. It's over 4 floors but it gets packed at peak times, so they'll sometimes seat you with other couples, but we've had some good laughs like that.

If it rains, forget all that..... Just head up to The Bishops Finger by Smithfield Market and spend the day getting leathered. Thumbs Up Very Happy

I went to London on Sunday with not much of a plan. We arrived at Waterloo Station and headed over Waterloo Bridge. You get a really good view from there of Big Ben and Parliament, the London Eye, Oxo Tower, the Gherkin and others. Over the bridge is Covent Garden, through there to Picadilly and onto Hyde Park.

Strolled through Hyde Park - it's hard to believe I was in a city centre - nice walk through with an ice cream Very Happy Stopped for some lunch by the Serpentine along with a cold bottle of beer Thumbs Up

Carried on down to Queens Gate and the Albert Hall. Then from there went down to the Science Museum (which was a bit pants TBH) then meandered back to Victoria Station.

Was a really nice day out in the sun Thumbs Up

With the focus on creating a cross cultural party, Pulse brings music from the world of jazz, world music, alternative, dance music performances as well as the traditionally great food, and dance and music workshops for children that the festival is renowned for.

Among the performers taking to the stage for this year's Pulse at Coin Street Festival are Goldilocks with their electro pop/rap and Czech music stars Gipsy.cz, who blend rap, Romany music, funk, ethno and pop into an explosive mixture bound to take your breath away.

Or go to Camden Market then take a narrowboat ride along the canal.
