I was looking around the internet for scooter reviews and came across this one for a Yamaha Jog R 50cc.

https://www.reviewcentre.com/review221398.html

People claiming that they can get 70mph out of there 50cc scooters is amazing but 130mph is just outrageous, and he thinks he can keep up with a CBR600rr.
I'm guessing when he had that race he had some rockets strapped to his scooter.

Ha Ha, maybe its been tuned by NASA!! Very Happy

Modern 2 stroke scooters can be nippy, I ride one too, a Piaggio NRG liquid cooled and that is nippy but only really upto 25mph, after that it creeps up at a lesser pace to a top speed of just over 50mph - standard deristricted, but this is about 65mph on the clock, well it goes off the clock which stops at 50mph!! Very Happy

But I haven't ridden it since getting my R6, so it may feel alittle different now.

I've seen some tuned big bore 75cc scoots get to about 90ish. I would have to see it to believe 130mph is possible. Plus the 90mph scooters are usually rebuilt every run!!

If he is pushing 130mph then he would need upwards of 50bhp possibly more and this is approaching 1000bhp per litre!!! My R6 is 200bhp per litre!! A RS125 with 33bhp tops out at about 100mph so another 30mph from 70cc!?!? I would like to see it!!

Unfortunately not, its a 'holiday' bike. It basically only gets used in the summer when its strapped to the back of the Motorhome and is used to ride round St. Tropez and Cannes and such like. Might take my R6 this year, but wouldn't fancy it falling off the back, but the good thing about the NRG is the amount of shopping you can get on it, even more so with a top box!!!

On the foot platform, in the underseat storage and top box, plus rucksack, could probably go touring on it if it was quicker. Very Happy

but you never know, just put a classic Honda back on the road too, so it may take a back seat in the choice of who gets to ride the bike rack. Very Happy

Well the world 50cc speed record is just a smidgen over 140mph over a flying mile on the Dayatona slat flats. It was set in the 1970's using a 4-stroke twin streamliner made by a company called Kreidler.

What was the advantage of a 4 stroke over a 2 stroke?

It was made by Kreidler with an extreme degree of precision.

Kreidler were the world leaders when they still used to have a 50cc G.P. and TT class.

Here's one, standard racers were good for over 100mph:
