They have some B grade units in stock so for a shade over £80 you can get yourself a complete GPS system that you won't be too worried about strapping to your bike.
It's bloody easy to use and works strait out of the box. Also has full UK post code searching unlike many other (more expensive) units.
The speaker is even audible at 40mph with the visor down. Very Happy

Another benefit is that it runs Windows CE, so it's possible to get TomTom v6 working on it if you need European maps. I've just about got it working - see here for details if you're fully computer literate.

I've only had it a day and have yet to use TomTom on it, but so far I'm bloody impressed with it as an out of the box device.

Look here for an extra few quid off. Thumbs Up

Adam

Great tip off and a decent product.

I have TomTom running on it (seems better than the standard software), but it does crash every now and then)

I've not had any problems with TomTom on it yet, though I feel the software it came with is better in some ways - especially on a bike.
You can just turn off when you're on a motorway (to save battery) and then back on again and it'll just carry on. With TomTom you have to click a few times to exit, then suspend the device.
I'd then have to turn back on, re-open TomTom and plot the route back in - could be a bit dodgy on a bike.

However, having Ireland maps on there will be bloody handy in a couple of months when I'm visiting the country, as well as the speed camera alerts. Thumbs Up

Will probably look at getting a waterproof PDA style bag for it soon but I need to measure it up so I get the right size.

Glad to hear others have taken the plunge too. Thumbs Up

Mine came this morning and am generally very pleased with it. Very good quality and easy to use etc. Only concern I have is that when I look for points of interest the thing does not locate any. Even searching everywhere is does not find any? Am i doing something wrong or does it not come with POI's installed out of box?

It definitely comes with POI's, so that's rather odd.
If you brought a used one from Maplin it may be worth reloading it using the CD it came with. I think there's instructions on how to do it in there somewhere.

Correct. I use a length of velcro and will shortly have a waterproof PDA bag.

What I have done with mine is modified the autorun.exe so it drops to the desktop on startup. I have installed TT6 and have created shortcuts to both TT and the Navigator software that it comes with. This means that i can choose which software that I want to run and when <geek mode off>

Use Activesync and connect to the unit over USB. Choose "Explore" and go to Flash Storage and copy the autorun.inf onto your desktop. open the autorun.inf in Notepad, and change it to "navigation = \Windows\explorer.exe" Copy the modified file back to the Flash Storage folder.

When you now start the unit and select navigation, it will open Windows Explorer. i then copied a program called PalmPage Explorer (available here). This allows me to stop running the Malate.exe program which normally loads at startup.

The unit now starts up to the Windows CE desktop as standard now. I installeds TT6 and created a shortcut on the desktop. I also dragged a shortcut for the Navigator software (which is the standard).
The only problem is that if the device crashes and needs a hardware reset, then I lose these changes. I then have to copy over the TomTom software from the SD card.
