 |
|
We have decided to sell my partners car after it failed the MOT, comparing the work to the cost of the vehicle, it’s not going to be worth it.
We have been offered a car, which looks very promising.
I could do with a little extra cash from the old car though. IMO the cars still worth quite a bit to a breakers because of the parts that are ok, the only reason we are not paying for the work is because of the labour…….not because of the parts list, just to scrap it would be silly.
What is the best course of action on this?
Who do I call to give it to for some cash?
Thanks

Ah, never thought of a forum, or do you mean it'll go because someone will collect it for nothing??
I was going to do the Ebay thing, the MOT runs out on the 13th, so should i put it on for a quick listing? ____________________ Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.

That's helpful, thanks Map.
It has got tax, so i guess that's a good thing.
So, shall i just start on a pound, or is that silly.
I mean the car drives and it's all fine for spares and such. ____________________ Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.

I was thinking i should really list the work to be done on it as there is quite a bit.
I don't want numerous people coming round and then i have to explain everything.
Thanks though....i would like to get more than £100 as i've just bought the missus a car ____________________ Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.

FFS SORN the M-fckr.
I was waiting for a new ins policy to tax my bike in May. The new policy/cert came in wrong reg detail.
Sent off again for adjustment.
Now I'm not in country so I'll thought I'd just abuse the SORN system and claim my free month.
No problem.
I am now SORN from 1st of June.
But DVLA They may still look for the missing month of MAY......
They are dumplings.
You can sell a pile of scrap so long as you are not a Registered Trader.
If so you can be liable for the goods if they fail.
You must also ensure the goods are legaly fit for the road.
Private sold as seen is good enough in law.
I'll give you a pound for it..
I'm now the highest bidder.. ____________________ W-ireless A-rtificial L-ifeform L-imited to O-bservation P-eacekeeping and E-fficient R-epair |

I'm going to put up the listing and i'll link you up to it so you can tell me what you think.
So, what will get people interested as a starting price? ____________________ Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.

Yeah it is…
The work quoted was going to be no less than £450, and that was an estimate.
The welding was going to take 2 hours I think, well these guys charge £50 an hour!
Brake hoses for example are cheap but the labour is ridiculous as it is a fiddly job.
The MOT was £50, I know you can get it for £40 some places.
If you get all the work done in 10 days your ok, otherwise, you pay half price!
So already you’ve spend around £600 with the VAT.
She could do with an oil, filter, plug change, which I could do myself, but it’s time and tools really.
In the next thousand miles it’s going to need 4 new tyres.
So in 4-5 months motoring we’re talking close to a grand. LOL

Yes £30 to be collected tomorrow, I’m going to see how the listing goes.
THE GOOD NEWS IS…..

I picked this up the other day for her £380 in the end.
Not bad for a fully serviced machine. ____________________ Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.

Fiat Punto 1.1 1996
All details are in the Ebay listing.
The weld is literally just going over a previous job.
