The silencers can be made optimum to a bike, i.e 50cc will have a 17mm baffle on race system cans.
They optimise performance and the back pressure, now once the gasses have left the expansion there wont be much in it on performance, but theres a lil.
If you wanted to make an under seat exhaust on a 2T you wouldnt use an optimum baffle size as the tube leaving the expansion is long engough causing back pressure.
The whole key to a 2t system is the expansion, but cans help reduce noise and increase the backpressure. Every tried a bike without one? it will be loud and rapid.
Bikes like the RS125 have a highly restrictive end can, the gasses have to flow here there any everywhere before it gets to the end, where as race systems have a straight through. Remove the can on a race system there wont be much more than noise, but a stock system u will feel it pull better.
Jetting can be effected with no cans, but it depends on the system.
My RS50 once i had made my custom can i experimented, got a tap at one end and nowt at the other and it took like 20secs for the water to get to the other end as it was 'waved' routed for restrictions and noise, hence why there will be a lil more drop off on hils on a 2t running a stock system, there restricted all over. ____________________ VAG Cars - www.vagcars.co.uk - North East VAG Owners Club |

The reason I asked is because my ts50 end can dropped off on the way to college today. I thought it sounded really sweet it turned many heads!
Now the question is, where are the jets and how do I adjust them so the bike runs correctly? |

It sounds like a proper two stroke race bike If its not fast you can at least make it sound fast. |
