Good on him.

Nice to see a Brit win F1 again.

Could be a very weird season if he wins championship in his first season!

The race was a bit rubbish though. Safety car 4 times, but kubiza's crash was pukka!

I find F1 one of the most brain numbing things to watch, next to Big Brother.

Give a shit?

If people have not seen it and don't want to know who won, they best stay off the internet until they have. Rolling Eyes

outstanding credit to the 'rookie' held his nerve after 4 Safety Cars being released. Sato was very good as well. Well deserved after all the podium finishes. I think he will win the American race next week.

That was an awsome race, mainly because there are long straights and plenty of chances for overtaking.
Go Hamilton!
Poor Kubica, that was horrific - sent a shiver down my spine!

I love it when people say F1 is boring, I can merely laugh at the basic prejudice you have to an action filled sport. Especially today full of avertakes, accidents, tactics, excellent driving.

And i bet he'll get a mention on the prime time news.

Yet if a Brit won a MotoGP race (or even championship for that matter) he wouldn't get a look in.

If anyone remembers when Foggy was racking up WSB championships, the only time he got coverage on the news was when he retired.

And when JT won the title in '04 he never got a mention.

But a Brit wins a Formula 1 race and will get a tonne of coverage Evil or Very Mad

IMO F1 is shit, i've never actually sat through a whole race i find it that boring, plus cars dont intrest me much anyway. BTCC is a giggle to watch though Thumbs Up

That's just because F1 is more popular.
If Paul Bonhomme won the Red Bull Air Race this year, he wouldn't get any coverage on the news either.

But that's because it's just not as watched as F1 is.
And to be frank, who gives a shit? Confused

We have Ayrton Senna to thank that Kubica got away with no serious injuries.

Oh and people who say F1 is boring really aren't watching it are they?

''But despite widespread reports claiming that he has a broken leg, the hospital said Kubica has sustained minor injuries and confirmed he will be released after a precautionary overnight observation.''

...just a sprained ankle!

I agree Craig, 10 - 15yrs ago he would have been dead, no question.

Type ertan senna ( probably wrongly spelt) into youtube and watch the accident. Safety is simply amaizing, if Kubica has a couple of wings he would have taken off and left the track.

or maybe that was just for me last week on the motogp - any comments 'skull' or whatever you were called?

Congrats to Lewis, i have a bet on Kimi on the championship, but thats not going to happen, so i would prefer Lewis over Alonso

Great pass by Sato near the end Thumbs Up

Skudd actually. But Drew I wasn't having a go at you as such just why do people just put results up and thats it. You just happened to have been the person that week. Don't take it to heart as there will be others doing the very same. I just asked, Why? In the same way, why do people cross over roads and nearly get themselves killed when they could have used the pedestrian crossing 10 yards further up the road?
If you still feel the urge to post just the results of sporting activities I'm sure I'm not the one to stop you, nor are there others that are able to either. I do apologise if I have hit a raw nerve with you as at the end of the day my opinions really don't matter in the long run.

I bet those new head/neck braces that they wear now saved his head from being torn clean off.

It's very hard to believe that a human body could survive that kind of impact even if the cockpit of the car did.

I remember when Button had a head on crash at Monaco the G-force data read 40G at the point of impact.

I reckon Kubica broke that little record, I'd love to know what it was but can't find anything on it.

The biggest impacts are in drag racing, and to a lesser extent Indycar and Nascar. People have hit stationery objects at 280+ mph in what is essentially a nitro fuelled bomb and walked away. Surviving a comparitively slow crash shouldn't be too difficult, particularly in F1 where the safety has become so paramount that the racing is shit boring.

Senna was killed by being hit in the head by a loose wheel, not the impact.
