Also the ABD are publicly anti speed cameras and as such their report will carry less weight.

I think I caught the Conservatives highlighting the numbers involved with safety cameras and fatalities etc. Their solution as they stated before was to reduce safety cameras and increase the police presence - which is what is required for the downward trend to resume.

However how much of that is just election rubbish from their part is to be seen, also the number of safety cameras won't decrease as has already been said it makes them too much money.

Anyway I'm not even going to get involved as I could go on about politics and propagander all day.

What they haven't put in there is that if the previous downward trend in the number of road deaths had continued for the past decade then there would be 5000 people who would not have been killed on the roads.

Speed cameras really do kill (around 5000 over 10 years)!

Not sure what we can do but at least join the ABD ( https://www.abd.org.uk ) as the more members they have the more people will listen to them. Currently the nutters who want to stop people having personal transport ( Transport 2000, Living Streets, etc) have far too much say in matters, despite their tiny memberships (from memory around 2000 members in each, yet they still screw up transport politics).

they would NEVER be able to inforce people not having their own transport!

if they banned personal transport, i'd move to another country and id imagine thousands of others would as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

they are a total waste of time if they seriously believe they are going to achieve anything. to think we probably pay their wages as well?!

Hi

Transport 2000 and Living Streets (used to be called the Pedestrians Association) are both just preasure groups. Hope they don't get any funding from government (although they probably get dole payments for most of their members).

However the government would love to force everyone onto public transport. Makes it very simple. Easy to restrict rises in wages as it makes it difficult for anyone to move to another job.

We have just about the lowest road death rate in the world (and that is even including Northern Ireland in the figures which has double the UK mainland rate).
