Cheers

I did my DAS on one. Apart from the concertinered seating positon that took some getting used to it was a good bike. A fair ammount of life at the top end of the rev range, happy to be thrown around at low speeds and they seemed to be industructable.

Pretty much the same as the CB500. I'd be expecting it to be somewhere between 1 and 2k depending on its age, history (many have been school bikes) and condition.

ER5s are a good choice for a 1st big bike they're well balanced, easy to ride and they handle pretty well although the suspension is a bit on the soft side.

If you are buying 2nd hand try to get one that has already had the exhaust changed for a Motad or similar as the original exhausts rot pretty quickly and are expensive to replace! These were really popular with couriers and training schools so theres loads of them around expect to pay between 600 for 97 plate to around 1700 for an 05 plate.

The finish on ER5s wasn't the best so keep it clean especially if you ride in winter otherwise it will rot before your eyes. Very Happy

Have a look at Hondas CB500 as well usually a bit more expensive than the ER5 but definately better built! Thumbs Up

Me and the other half have just bought ourselves a couple of ER5s and love them!

We both passed in 2000 and have been riding on and off (more off the last 2 years!)

Previously I had a 600 Hornet, and she had a CB750 then a CB500.

In both our opinions the ER5 is better than the CB500, as mentioned on other internet sites the ER5 is chuckable with neutral handling that makes for a lovely ride - no nasty surprises!

Price wise, I paid £1000 for an 02 with 14k miles.
The other is a 52 reg with 2.6k miles for £1300, mint condition!
