I had to pull over on my way back from work on wednesday. The back end felt wierd like something was holding it back, maybe something cought/catching/grinding...

I got back home and jacked the back end up (no paddock stand ) and stuck in in gear and let her roll. The clunks, juddering and grinding forced me to call my honda dealer to arrange a pick up and do a service.

They said "your with the AA for 2 years ... " so i rang them, the evil man came from the AA and said could be bearing (on a 10 month old bike? Bastards!) chain to tight, chain too dry ... dont think he really knew.

The evil man tied my NSR on to the back of his truck (IMHO not very securly) and took it away to the dealers.

I am now without bike

Took it to W M Armstrong's in Middlesborough, i dont know if anyone remembers but when i took it for its first service they compleatly balls it up and left my bike with no gearbox oil in, half the amount of 2stroke oil i put in it, oily hand prints everywhere etc etc.

Hopefully make a better job of it at this place.



Are bearings covered by warranty? The honda guy said he wasnt sure and may be classed as a "wearable part" or something. how much am i likly to pay for a 2nd service and fix back end assuming its the bearing and i do have to pay for it?

anyone know how much they are just in case though, i can see me being screwed over for something and having to pay for it.

Bike has done 1700+ miles and only done 1 service, from what i can work out in the manual/service guide thingy the next one is 2500 miles.

Can they turn around and say it should have been in before now ...?

Hi

The bearings should only be £10~£15 for the parts (maybe more if they do the sprocket bearing as well) as from memory they are about £4~£5 each, then however much they charge to fit them. However I would expect them to last more than 1700 miles and would think they should be covered by warrenty. You don't pressure wash the bike do you?

To be honest it could do with a clean! Never pressure washed it and i read in the/a manual somewhere not to do it either...

£10 - £15 sounds fine, was expecting it to be a part that is hard to get hold of or hard to fit etc and have to spend some stupid amound on it.

On hold at the moment to Honda UK so ill let you know if the bearings are covered under warrany in about an hour when they pick up

Hmmm, must be good to have solicitors etc work out loop holes so you can be totaly obtuse about the answers you give to a simple question.

"No, these parts are not covered under warranty... However if the dealer inspects the part and says it was faulty workmanship materiels etc then it would be covered under a "good will" warranty...

So what there saying is, if people dont ring us and therefore dont mention mention to the dealer that they have called and are now aware of the "good will" deal, they have to pay...
