I'm biased cause I own a 650!

Get whichever one you feel most comfortable and at home with.

the sv650 and the gixer are very different bikes, they go different, stop different and corner different, the sv is a very good and easy bike to ride where as the gixer could be seen as something that could be more of an experienced riders bike, it also depends on what you want to do with the bike, are you communting alot or using to have a blast on it, test ride both as well and see what you like, at the end of the day you must buy a bike your happy with.

I wouldn't go the GSXr just yet.

You won't have the experience, to ride it to its limits, its better to learn how to ride a smaller bike (in bhp terms) to its maximum, before moving on.

I'd go with kawakid ont his one too.
By all means, test ride both bikes if you have the opportunity, but you may well find the Gixxer a bit too "aggressive" in handling and performance.

For the record the first bike I rode after my DAS pass was a test ride on a brand new CBR600RR.... and I eventually settled for the common sense approach and bought a 500

Congrats!!! Thumbs Up

I passed my DAS last November and am now the proud owner of an Yamaha R6. Very Happy Had it just over a month and I am settling into well.

I would check insurance premiums as for me the Gixxer, CBRrr, ZX6R were all about £500+ dearer than the R6!!! Don't know why. But R6 is most powerful with 126bhp. Very Happy The R6 in my opinion makes a good new rider's bike as it been tuned for power at higher revs it has a tame low end making it easier when going slow etc.

Are you totally fesh to bikes or had some past experience? Like me age is on your side so even tho you are a newby hopefully your maturity will prevent you from going too silly. Very Happy

enjoy what ever you get!!

BTW I use my R6 for commuting to work and the weekend ride, perfectly fine for both!!

personally even though im a noob, more power means more danger so start off slow, that what i will do, cbt> 125>1-2 years of riding >das> bigger bike
