Hello,

Just passed my bike test and am now looking for a bigger bike.

I'm hopefully going to buy a nice Suzuki V-Strom 650 at the weekend and will require insurance for it.

I've been riding my CG125 for 10 months so almost have that 1 years no claims.

The insurance company (motorcycle direct) said they can bring the end date of the policy to 25th July so I will be able to use my 1 years no claims then, but for now, i need a month of fully comp insurance with the 0 years no claims.

I was just wondering if anyone has any recommendations of where I could get a one-month insurance policy from? The only place i've found so far is eBike and they want £93 for one month! Shocked for their pay-as-you-go insurance.

Would it be best to take out a one-year policy, pay for it monthly and then cancel it after the first month?

Any help much appreciated.

I did it 2 years ago, Simply call your insurance up and using the same polocy swap the bike over on that polocy and you pay the difference in price for the remaning month, it wont be a lot and maybe an admin charge, generally £30.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Thanks for the quick replies.

Unfortunately, they cannot do this as I was on a 'scooter' policy or something Confused and the underwriters can't swap the policy over to a bike over 125cc.

Bit of a bugger Sad

I love it when the answer's in the question.

As you say, buy a 1yr policy then cancel.
You will be refunded the time/days you do not use or plus any cancelation admin set up shiute they sometimes skunk you for.
Some companies are more understanding than others.

It is a fukin minefield out there.

try moneysupermarket.com
And happy times filling out effing online forms to you. Wink
