Bought my first scooter yesterday a week after my 16th. Just need to pass my CBT now.
The scooter is a Peugeot Vivacity. Had to be a Peugeot as thats the local scooter dealer so I can get it serviced and parts easily.
The scooters a 2001 with 6000km on the clock.

Heres the scooter:

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=015&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=250125688742&rd=1&rd=1

Tell me what you think.

Mark

Yeah the colours, erm... bright. It was really cheap though so it will do until I'm 17. Just going to use it to commute to college. Hopefully going to book my CBT tomorrow but I'm going France on the 23rd June for 4 days so will probably be doing it after then.

Well went to pick up the scooter today but it wasn't all as it seemed. We got there at the time agreed and he arrives late as he was round his girlfriend (which doesn't matter and wasn't too fussed, wasn't in a rush).
He says the scooters is at his brothers and it's not far, so we follow him in the car and when we get there the scooter was running (meaning it had been warmed up) and the mileage wasn't 6000KM it was 21,000KM. So it's been a lot further than expected.
We were told that it was stored in a garage but we got there and it was covered in water. While we was at his house waiting for him, his dad said that it had lashed it down with rain at 6:00 (it was now 7:50). He had also said that he had owned it for a year and came off it when he hit a car.
So we had a look around and the front panel is held on by 2 zip ties and there is large amount of scratches down the left hand side. The indicator button is missing and it was just in an overall untidy condition. All if this not mentioned in the advert.
Next to the scooter was a blue Aprilia Habana in bits so me and my dad were guessing that this one had probably been taken apart aswell.
I also asked during the auction if the scooter had been de-restricted but the answer was no, I just had a feeling that it had been as it had driven a long way at 30mph if it wasn't. As a translation it 466 hours of constant riding at 30mph.
So my day was ruined as I was really excited about getting my new wheels. At least I learnt that you shouldn't get excited until you actually have it in your hand.
The search goes on for a Peugeot scooter.

From a very depressed Mark

Ah, that's savage mate. Same thing happened to my friend when he thought he was buying a second-hand RS50 - some 16 year old like him had thrashed it and it was basically in pieces. Obviously not as stated in the advert.

Recently bought myself a brand spankin' new Speedfight Iron-X, in red. £1700, and with the gear and CBT, £2000. Got my CBT booked for the day you leave, the 23rd Wink

G'luck finding another bike, mate.

I would love to have the Iron-X, can't afford it though. Did look at a 56 reg 307 rally edition Speedfight at the dealer but it was £1200. I only have £650.
Hope you pass your CBT and enjoy your Speedfight.

I Went to look at an aprilia RS50 that was in "good condition, a few scratches" it wasn't like that when we looked at it!

Be very carefull when buying stuff from ebay, especially in the motoring section, alot of stuff is stuck on there as most will pay for it then go get it rather than look at first and it usually has something missing or wrong with it. But there are good'uns to be had.

I would look on Autotrader as there are usually better stuff on there or a local paper like Loot.

Why don't you use the website?

Yeah no point in buying the magazine anymore as everything in it is on the web. Infact thinking about it I haven't seen it much in the shops!!

Everything in the magazine isn't on the website. You have a choice to either just advertise on the website or pay extra money to get it on the website.
I looked into it.

Even the most basic advert is on the web. Whatever package you go for, a website advert is included in them all with the magazine advert being additional. Very Happy

Just looked at the ad again, and the guy has no bad feedback? Surely you should put some up, and maybe an official complaint to ebay?

Not worth the hassle. We just let it go. When we was there was said we would just leave it and not leave negative feedback.

Just looking on the autotrader website and came across this.

https://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/BIKES_popup.jsp?nU=0&make=PEUGEOT&model=ANY&ccappr=50&min_pr=75&postcode=OL6%208UB&miles=40&max_records=200&modelexact=1&photo=1&start=4&distance=17&adcategory=BIKE&channel=BIKES&id=200724289580980

It is the scooter that I went to look at now advertised for £520.

I know it's the one as the mobile number is the same and it's done the 21,000km. I like the way they say it's a good honest scooter.

Here is the ebay auction if you want to clarify the mobile number.
