Due to my Scooter being stolen, I have brought the idea of fixing my chinese copy's engine back into play. Have gotten a good way into the engine (need to part those crank cases) but being halted by my oil pump. It seems to be held on by some philips head screws. Now all I have as far as dealing with those things is a hand screwdriver which has only so far been able to successfully remove one of the 4 screws.

What other tools can I be looking at? Need something with a bit more leverage I guess.

Also the service manual claims I need to use a special tool to remove the magneto. Why would this be? It looks like a normal nut to me :S

Hmm had the Impact driver mentioned to me before. Anyone got one they can recommend to me that is floating around on ebay? Either that or a trip to Machine Mart or Halfrauds is in order.

Just had a look in the Service Manual (didnt know they hired the homeless to translate chinese to english lol) they recommend a special puller along with a picture. Now since that isnt a flywheel...(could be their translation) I take it there arent any decent ways of removing the magneto rotor without said special tools?

These might do the job for the flywheel:

Also you could use this to lock the engine in place (so stop flywheel spinning) but it looks like a bit of a dodgy idea...

Just thought I would say thanks for the response guys and gals,

As for locking off the engine, I have gone for the poor mans approach with a rag jammed in between the clutch and another large gear/cog (cant recall from memory) but both big enough and the tea towel (sorry mum lol) is doing a good job Very Happy. Did me proud in getting the nuts holding the clutch springs in, out.

As far as the Flywheel / Rotor recommendation from BlueX5 goes, is this a universal thing since they mention it being for 50cc engines and this bike is a 125cc CG clone?

Any suggestions for the impact driver as far as make goes? Or are they all much of a muchness. Would like one that I can use for other stubborn buggers as well as philips head screws.

The one I have is about 30 years old & all mushroomed over on the end, Still works great. It's a Talco & cost about 3 quid...
