How much for a Hornet?

Passed my test yesterday (2nd go) and want to get a bike now. Thinking of a used 600cc Hornet, any idea what I should be expecting to pay if it's about 2-3 years old & in good condition (around £3k)? How much mileage would be too much for a bike that old?

Hi, Congrats on passing the test.

3k is probably about right for a 3 year old Hornet in good condition with a couple of thousand miles miles on it I would say. If you have just passed your test then make sure you have money set aside for things like insurance and gear too though. I spent way more than I thought on that stuff.

I paid £2500 for mine from a garage around 10 months ago and it is in great condition with 7k miles on it at the time. People have paid less though and still got an excellent bike.

I was also looking at a Red 98 model with 27k miles on it for £1600 as well but went with the shinier one

There are bargains out there if you look hard enought though.

to be honest, i would go for a older cheaper one, like £1500 max
chances are you'll crash it, so dont want too many£££ invested,
a newish one you should be able to pick up for around £2500

lol, no one wants to crash, but its almost a fact of life .
especially for the first big bike, i say go cheap, and if after a year or 2 and you havn't crashed you wont really lose too much on the "cheap" bike you have bought, and you'll be less likely to have an off on your next newer bike.
just my opinion of course, and im sure you'll disregard it, if you have your heart set on a new hornet i probably would too
