well ive moved house, and the new one can barly fit my vfr and my brothers rs50, but when the other one gets money through, im gettin a fair share and some new tires...so heres he advice i need, what tyres

Change your rear wheel and then you have a better range of tyre choice as you limited at the moment. If not then Iw ould recommend Metzelers GPR70s

If you want outright grip and aren't worried about mileage go for the BT-090(BT92 successor for the grandads Razz), but bear in mind the rears last 2k and the fronts last around 3.5k miles.

If you want something a little more suited to everyday riding there's the BT-010 and BT92, both rears should last around 4k miles. I've tried both and would recommend the BT-010 rear. I think the BT92 has too flat a profile which slows the steering of an already slow steering bike(NC30). The BT010 in comparison has a much more egg-shaped profile which seems to speed up the rate of turn-in without compromising the stability.

A lot of people will tell you the 010 isn't suited to smaller bikes and will not heat up, I don't know about other 400's but the 150/60/18 BT-010 as far as I know is made specifically for the NC30 and has a much different profile to larger 160+ section BT010's.

Personally I run a BT-090 front and BT-010 rear which i'm very happy with; they've generated enough heat to allow me to ground out the lhs exhaust downpipe on the road and I should get some half-decent mileage out of them.

They say 400's arent heavy enough to warm an 010, but I've always thought that to be cobblers cos 160 kilo 600's wear 'em, and in general 400's weigh more than that (afaik).
Yeah so there's a little less power to warm the rear but you've got plenty of braking performance to warm the front hoop. Smile

Rick oliver does a conversion kit, go buy a smaller wheel and wollah! Get the number from 400greybike.
Apparently the Duke rear wheel fits really welll without the kit but you need a certain size spacer or something?

Compared to an R6 or something, they turn slow. They are extremely stable though, and lean like there's no tomorrow Very Happy Very Happy

They've always steered slow mate, why do you think so many riders get either aftermarket shocks with ride height adjustment or suspension linkage modifications? I probably find it more noticeable than most as my last bike was an RGV250 - not a stranger to the odd tankslapper or five. Smile

well i need a tyre that can last me more than 2 weeks(i do a hll of alot of riding, had it a month and a half and got close to 3 thou km)
so can i havea decent anser, cause ive gotten confused.

and to blakey, im still near cambs but in adiffrent place, fancy a ride out some day, i ride with my bro on his 50 most of the time so i wont just piss of and leave you

Well 090s are the stickiest thing for it, but if your not going to be going for KD every corner and getting stuff to ground out you'll be ok on a harder tyre. 010s should be good, altho again you might not get them up to operating temperature without really pushing.

020s are a good all round tyre, and you should see lots of life (6-7k+) out of one of them on a VFR.

BT45s are a touch cheaper and will probably last as long as an 010, maybe slightly longer. They come as S or V rated i think, which means they are only rated up to 130 or 140 mpg off the top of my head. They are also a bias ply tyre, not a true radial, not that it makes a huge difference.

One last thing - metzeler ME330/550 combination i found to be shite, avoid them.

Various other manuafacturers will make a cheapish tyre to fit. You should be able to get a set of michelin hi sports for it, which have similar characteristics to a BT45 but seem to last a bit longer and are a true radial.

i just had a quick look and ive got a bt96 on rear and hi sport on front, they seem to do ok but are very worn. i might go for 010'sor 020, so confusing, im also picking up a new chain and sprocket set while im at it and a d/b screen

Fairly certain the BT45 is a normal cross ply tyre, not a bias belted or radial tyre.

H is for speeds up to 130mph, V for speeds up to 149mph

I ran an 020 rear on my ZX6R, and was good for munching up motorway and boring miles, and cos of the duel compound the edges were still quite grippy. However I like my super corsas a lot more (well in the dry at any rate Wink )and will be wearing them out, then getting me some 010's for winter miles as they like the rain more.
