Anyone going to the NEC Birmingham Bike Show this year?

I'm going between the 14th - 16th (November).

Bringing along the old man too, as he has just recently took his CBT, and enjoyed riding my NSR when he got the time... Until it got nicked of course... Sad

I may go this year! How much are the tickets this time around?

I dont know weather to get the train and spend £54 for a return ticket, or spend £45 on petrol and ride the 300mile rnd trip in winter? Confused

£13 a ticket!

https://www.motorcycleshow.co.uk/

You can book online there!
If the weather aint too bad you should ride it! It'd be fun!

I have to take the car, for the old man, and the fact that I don't have a bike anymore!

It's about a 300 mile round trip for me too (Newcastle)!

I'm tempted to go on Preview day this year. Can anyone who has previously been on preview day recommend it?

Hey Kev, what sorta supermoto are you looking for? Reason i ask is that i want one too, as its the only style of bike that really interests me at the moment, especially being an ex scooter rider. My Funds for a 2nd bike are somewhat limited, so its gonna be a self built job for me. The list of bikes that ive got, and are on the look out for are:
KDX250SR,KMX200,MTX200,DT200LC, or TS200R. basically under £1000 for the bike, and the same again to do the conversion into a mean street tool lol! Did want a CRM mk3, or AR, but thats like £2500-3000, so quickly forgotten again!

Still like the CRM's as they are probably the best 2stroke trail bike ever? I might be interested, but id ideally prefer an officially imported bike like the KMX or MTX as i think that it would be easier for obtaining spares etc. Ive had 1 KMX200 and regreted selling it, but i know its an easy bike to work on, so something similar would be good. I like the KDX250SR as its like a cheaper, less well known CRM and has a useful 40bhp std. Ive seen one for £1350 in a dealer in southhampton, but im waiting for some pics of it. I reckon that i can just about afford to buy, convert, and maintain a 2stroke single, as ive seen a TDR250 for £400, tatty, but running. I decided not to bother though, as i dont want anything thats complicated, or expensive to work on/buy parts for, and also the running costs on a TDR are a bit much i think.

Went on Preview day in 2001. Was pretty good yeah in terms of there not being as many people there (well I didn't think there was), and you get a few more celebrities there. The only downside to it I thought was that most stalls selling bike stuff weren't very negotiable on the price cos they knew they had a week left to get rid of the stuff, anyone who's been on the last day before knows that they know shed loads off just to save them the hassle of taking it back.

James and I will be going for definate - we have to get the boy some one piece leathers - that fit. (I slightly underestimated his chest size last time Embarassed)

So depending what day everyone is going I'll try to fit in around that - though I would like to get tickets booked soon.

We will probably go mid week, Wednesday is likely. I may also go at the weekend and take my sister.

All the best

I'll be going the first weekend I think. Yeah I know it'll be busy, and not as much discounts etc, but it'll still be cheaper than shops, and there'll be lots and lots of range and everyone one will actually have stock Smile

Unfortunately both James and I are busy working students (!?) and have lectures mid-week. So we'll have to go for the weekend, probably the last one (James wants to pay as little as possible for his leathers!).

Last year on the last day, people had very little stock left. Might be worth trying to go earlier in the show, I guess it will still be chapers than the shops.

Yea, this is what I'm trying to tell James.....

YOU try!

Unfortunately, we do have lectures all week, which is annoying. If I could miss them then that would be fine, but unfortunately we can't. I'd go on the Monday or Friday, but James spends these days chopping up dead people.

Hi

Down side is that this year there are not going to be as many trade stands there.

All the best

Hopefully my house sale will be confirmed by then and I will have a budget of more than £30 for a set of leathers, gloves, boots and a lid.

Either that or I may have to go on the game. I should be able to afford a pair of cheap gloves at next year's show.
