I have an RVF 400 and was just wondering if i put a K&N air filter on it will it change performance or sound. Also is it good for the engine with no other mods, oh and i also have an ART exhaust on it.
Thanks for any help.

p.s - any ideas were i could get one from and how much?

Yhanks again

Excellent combo K&N filters are good. They are reusable, when it gets dirty wash it out with soap or a non-harmful solvent tehn let it dry then apply some sae 80 or 90 oil and you're good to go!! As for the ART exhaust, i've heard some reviews about them, they are quiet at idle but vey loud and deep when you rev especially over 5000rpm.

All i can say is again, GOOD COMBO!!!

No - simply put.

I would say get it re-jetted afterwards as it will be running lean after the addition of the K&N and exhaust.

Erm i know people who have had trouble with fitting them, if you dont get the jetting right the engine wont be able to make use of the extra air and will probably not run all that well.

A pipercross filter would be marginally better, but i doubt you'd feel the difference. If you get a K&N you'll need to rejet, and really it'll need to be set up on a dyno. If you don't rejet it would be running very lean, and possibly cause damage to your engine.

Um, aren't you just doing your theory test? if so why do you want to know about K&N's before even riding the bike normally for awhile?

I got quoted £48 for a ZX6R K&N air filter earlier this week from Demon Tweeks. Is it so hard to ring a shop and ask them? Confused

How you choose to ride around is up to you. However is it worth the risk? Just needs someone to knock you off, the plod to give you a producer as a matter of procedure and you're fucked! It's your license and money you're risking

No I don't agree. If I agreed I would be more than happy to admit it.

Most people go out on Sunday mornings as the roads are generally quiet, so they can go faster etc... I know you also do this, but you don't have to admit it! Razz

Why did you buy a bike you can't use before you had even done your theory or booked it for that matter? Neutral

You've had that RVF for ages, I'd love to hear the justification for not having sat your test yet...

Sunny? Sunday morning? Manchester

Those three never come about up here lad Wink Razz

No riding with no license and thus no insurance is idiotic. Imagine how you would feel if someone crashed into you whilst he/she was uninsured
