Ill admit that i went along to the Japanese Performance event at SantaPod on sunday. Only as my mate was pestering me to go with him and i thought id would be a laugh to watch, especially as he had intended to race his Nissan Almera 1.8 Sport lol! In the end he chickened out, having seen that nearly all the cars were mainly seriously modified scoobys, Evos, and Supra's etc etc. But the thing that i couldnt belive was the performance of a Nissan Skyline GTR, that was so quick! This womans car ran a best time of 10.4sec at 147mph!! If i hadnt of seen it i would never of belived it was possible. It kinda pissed me off that a car was capable of wiping the floor with my bike, but then i felt alot better when i found out about it, and saw it in the pits area. It had at least £6k worth of engine work done, with 2 huge turbochargers, running stupid boost pressure's, all that stand alone boost/fuel control computer stuff, water injection, water sprayed intercooler, and 2 massive bottles of Nitrous in the back. I dont know what it would be like to drive, or what the bhp was (guessing 600ish?), but it went through the gears like a stage 3 tuned RGV250 on alcohol, and only just managed to stay in a straight line. Thats a good enough reason for the 414bhp Busa to exist i thinks, as id never want to pull up next to this thing at the lights.
The worst problem though is that my mate is now ever more determined to do a turbo conversion on his Almera, and says that next year he will be beating Impreza's, because he saw 1 fast Nissan Pulsar, run a 13.6sec 1/4. Ive given up trying to change his mind, but id sure like a ZX12 with an extended swingarm for putting Skylines firmly in there place!

Those results pale into insignificance when compared to the speed I can get to when running for the bog after a particularly hot curry.

It was a dark grey/black skyline GTR, at least i think so, but its hard to see the exact colour at that speed lol! Having seen the pics, i think it might be the one with the orange cam covers, and the unfiltered f**kin huge turbo chargers. Either way it was bloody impressive in a very annoying way. I just hope that that car is soo tuned to the limit, that it cant be driven far on the road before it goes pop, so then ill never have to worry about what if i met it at the traffic lights lol! I once saw a Skyline at a show with just 1 monster sized turbo, instead of 2 just massive ones, but i never expected a car to perform like that. I might be wrong here but if you lined a modified ZX12R or somthing like that, it still might not be able to run faster, as i guess that any road bike tyre would have difficulty in transmitting around 200bhp+ onto the tarmac. Im still happy though as im almost laughing when i think how much money that girls skyline has consumed to get up to those times, when apparently a std one will only do around 13.8sec 1/4's.

Hi

The fastest bike for the flying times at Elvington on Sunday managed 220 on its top speed run. Cannot remember the bike but probably reasonably streetable if he was doing the top speed runs rather than going for serious 1/4 mile times. He managed a 1/4 mile time of 10.32 seconds at 151mph.

Best time of the day was 8.58 @ 155mph

All the best

Keith
