Confused Newbie

Hi all, Im going to get back into biking after a long break and really only want a 125 to get to work and back on.
Im confused by the new laws, when I was 17 you could just get on a 125 and ride it, now I understand you have to do the CBT.
But I passed my car test in 1992 and my licence says I have provisional entitlement to category A. Do I still need a CBT?
Also I like the look of Aprilia and Cagiva bikes but these are quoting 30 odd bhp so can I ride them or do I need a higher test?

To answer your question.

You do need to take your CBT as your provisional entitlement is not valid without it, it will need to be renewed every two years (unless you pass your bike test).

I'm assuming you mean the Cagiva mito or Aprilia RS125, you can ride these as long as they've been restricted to 14 odd bhp. If your just looking at commuting to work there are much better machines out there as the two above bike are fairly maintenance intensive as their highly tuned engines, also fuel economy isn't brilliant on them.

I am sure you dont need a CBT if you have held your licence that long. When applying for insurance theres an option to check if you have done your CBT or not if you are on a provisional licence, the quote came back like 500quid more when i checked the No CBT option...
