buying my first bike.

Hello folks...
i just join the forum since i'll buy my first bike next week.

i live in panama city; panama. here is no need for cbt or whatever and my license allow me to ride any bike i like so i started reading a lot of stuff about the first purchase

ok.... here on the local market are a lot of chinese bikes... and on the 125-150 segment i decided to go (to get my experience and stuff) i found 2 bikes on the market an i can't really decide which one to pick

Yamaha YBR125ED US$ 1439.00 final price

Suzuki EN125-2A US$ 1495.00 final price


as you see... the difference is almost none... both dealers are offering the same warranty and the feed back i got from other local bikers about their service is great for both....


which one will you choose??

Your local mates are the ones to take notice of.
I have no idea of the reletive mertits of either of the bikes. I would just go with which you like the most.

I agree with iooi, sit on them both and choose which you feel is best for you

My husband would choose suzuki because he likes the build and quality.

Theres not much to distinguish either of them, but yeah go sit on them, get a test ride if you can and get the one that you feel most comfortable on. Your gonna be the one riding it so no point getting something that makes your butt hurt after 10 mins. Maybe even barter if you can get the price down by playing them off with each other

I already put my ass on both and to be honest they are quite the same thing.

anyways... since i'm newbie i'll pick the suzuki because it has a digital thing on the clocks that shows in what shift the gear box is...

what yamaha has is colors... suzuki only have blue and red available.

anyways... i'll see some finance options and based my desition on that too... i got the money but i just don't wanna spend it all at once.


by the way... do you guys know where i could get a service manual for the bike?
i was checking on the threads and there's non for the suzuki en125-2a

Yamaha YBR125 seems like it is overtaking the Honda CG125 in sales over here in the UK.

I'd go for the Yam personally but they'll all return the same MPG, Speed, etc

Any differences in riding position on the two? I'd probably just pick one you like the look of, or get the cheaper on and a few tanks of fuel with the saving

In the UK the YBR125 has fuel injection though - more complicated than a carb with more to wrong and also more difficult to fix and tinker with at home.

Personally I'd stick with a carb-fed engine.

here in panama the yam use carbulator (they say new carb mv28 or something like that..)

about fuel economy, i have no idea; but suzuki claims they can do 58 km per litter.... (over 200 km/gal)

well folks...

after a zillion of calls i found out that here in panama there's no bike culture.

banks do not finance bikes and insurance only covers the bike but not the riders (stupid isn't it?)

literally the only bank who wanted to finance it was charging me 24% at 3 years; completely ridiculous.

to be honest i have the money to buy it cash; but i just don't wanna spend it all at once; so i decided to use my credit card to buy it....
