well i was thinking that i might decide to streetfighter my 400, after all the fairing is looking a bit worse for wear after almost 20 years.
i know it would look pretty good with the separate headlights and i could fit an under tray thingy on it. im just wondering what your thoughts were on it.
heres how it looks now

I made a right old mess of my fairing a while back. Fightering it was basically the only way for me to go.

Makes its feel like a totally different bike. Quite fun new bike without buying another one. Thumbs Up

Renthal bars and away we go! Very Happy

Have you thought of doing it back up to "concurs" condition , it would be worth more money at the end of the day . . Thumbs Up Very Happy

It looks pretty neat as it is, I was goin' to fighter an NC30 but the rear end, frame and engine look pretty ugly bare. Also the top yoke is really weak and there aren't replacement yokes for them (As far as I know) So unless you're willing to risk drilling it motox bars are out of the question.

I'd keep it as it is looks nice!

Whatever you do, if you do fighter it make sure you keep the plastics.

You can put them back on if / when you want to sell it, or if you manage to sell it as a fighter, you can sell the plastics on Ebay for a bit of cash too.

Plastics are worth money, even in bad condition.

You can get bits for renthals and other moto cross bars that clip on. No drilling needed.

Leave it alone, it's a bloody classic!!

'Fightering' (in that sense) is for pranged sportbikes. It'll look crap and you'll regret it. Penny Coin Penny Coin

If it's looking tatty but rides ok, save up and get it sprayed one winter. Seems a shame to cock around with a standard bike.

well not tatty but close inspection reveals a few scratches on the fairing and dent on the........jeez whats it called.....the metal thing that runs down the fairing fooooook (usually a delta box on some bikes, jeez im pissed) etc etc everything you would expect from a 20 yr old bike. the only thing stopping me is that its stock colours and are like rocking horse shnizzle to come by, its got......i think about 39k (kms) on the clock and has only recently had the jap restrictor taken off (which i think means its a good chance it hasnt been raced)
