Can't help with the Dope, but are you considering the Baitings Dam hill-climb anytime? If you do, let me know as its just up the road from me...

Is there a speedway club near you? Pretty sure most of the Jawa singles are running methanol so they might be able to help.

I always thought dope was ethanol/wood alcohol though? Will you be able to get the jets big enough to run pure methanol? I've seen a TriBSA that ran on dope and they'd just removed the jets entirely.

A mate who does drag racing gets 160 octane race fuel (not nitro, just very high octane) shipped over from the states in cans, I can ask him who from if you like.

I think you can get 110 octane aviation fuel (6*? ), might be worth asking at a local aero club?

I'd watch it. We have a carbouy of reagent grade methanol at work for washing laboratory glassware. It's VAT and duty exempt. Believe it or not, we were actually contacted by HM Customs and Excise about 12 months after buying it to find out what we were using it for. I felt like telling them it went down ok with coke and a twist at the staff party but then realised that they undoubtedly have absolutely no sense of humour.

That's just one carbouy which I suspect would get a trials-trim Ariel 500 single about a mile or so. Those sort of quantities might take a bit of explaining.
