Cheers Toby i will do i have also looked at the kawasaki er-5 but you never know they might release a new one by the time i come to buy one, i just didn't want a 125 as i would be doing alot of commuting and some traveling in all weathers so with a 500 its a bit heavier so it wont be all over the place in the winter winds etc
Whats the GS500 like then toby?
Cheers |
Just a basically commuter bike with a fairing on, nothing more, nothing less
Good low down power tho, lacks in top end
The finish is poor, the spark plug holes collect dirt and road grime (You probably wont have to worry about this)
Spares are easy to get hold of but they're pricey from a main dealer/robinsons
Dont know if this changed on 2001+ bikes underneath the seat is not sealed so gets covered in road shite, not good if you keep things under there.
Not much choice in rubber, BT45's are ok
Accessories are limited, although there may be a few more for the faired version, you definately want a rear hugger
Also need a fenda extenda as road crap gets thrown up and rots the downpipes and generally makes a mess
Brakes are crap, braided lines don't improve things any more so don't waste your money, and apparently HH pads completely muller the rotors before their time
They're cheap as hell though, used spares cost buttons and they're easy to work on, just be careful as fastenings are made of cheese.
