Well, i live opposite a Gym (pretty much).
They have just built it, its a David Lloyd. Apparently going to be one of the largest in the country, it sure does look huge, and the facilities are nothing short of 5 Star.
I get a Corporate discount through my work, so got it slightly cheaper.

Mine has decent facilities, it's used by Bolton Wanderers players and has a full sized indoor running track
But i did get the special retard discount for being a window licker / insurance salesperson.
Been to the David Lloyd up here and its very expensive for what seems to be very little reason other than the staff looking down at you! The family membership is like £200 a month!! ____________________ Past: '96 Thundercat, '02 ZX636R (A1P), '58 KTM 690 SM LC4 Current: '06 ZX636R (C6F)

The score was determined on the cycle, 5 min fitness test, monitors your heart rate and gives a score at the end.
They also did weight, waist, chest, hips, bicep, thigh and calf measurements as well as body composition ie what fat, muscle and water %.
Then finished with a strech test. ____________________ 2005 Yamaha R6 |

(Before i go on, i worked in a Gym for nearly 5 years)
Fitness test, for 5 minutes on a bike wouldnt really tell you much. 25 Minutes, using a bike and calculating your Vo2 Max would give you a better reading (ask if they can do a Vo2 max test for you).
As for the other tests, cool i guess, it gives you an idea of what level your at, at the moment.
Dont pay too much attention to your BMI to be honest, as they really dont give much of an accurate picture. BF though, your target for an average male is looking to be around 11-13%.
One of the most accurate ways to measure BF is using the Tanita machines that work it out by displacing the amount of water you currently have in your body, this is of course effected by what you have before, for example. If you Smoke within 4 hours, drink within 12 hours, eat within 4 hours and/or have caffiene within 24 hours they can all effect the results.
On to the stretch test, well, if they have talked to you about Core Stability/Strength training or if you havent already found out about it, i certainly would, it'll help you with your Core Strength and will vastly improve your flexibility.
Any more info, please ask, i like the subject of Gyms and working out. So... |

Hehe, HR doesnt matter too much, its the speed in which you return to your resting heart rate.
Core Stability training, is using the Busu balls, the larger balls, and training using them. Thinks like wood chops, and other primal movements.
The theory on exercising on the balls, and balancing on them is that you learn to balance more, as whatever you push upwards, theres an equal force pushed back to you, and you learn to balance this using core strength training.
For example, when, in life do you ever lie on a bench, and push weights up? Its totally unrealistic to built proper core strength, now, do the same exercise whilst balancing back first on a ball and you not only have to push the weight up, but balance yourself as you have the equal weight being pushed against you.
If that makes sense. |

Was at the local 24HourFitness (fatness?) this morning & was having a laugh at 2 dimwits trying to hit on the hottest looking girl in the place. They were getting nowhere fast & it was quite amusing to watch.....
.. right up until she looked at me & said "Hey dad... tell these assholes to leave me alone"
WTF? So I tell em to bugger off & leave "my kid" alone. |
